Heat Shield on Benelli R1?

I'm figuring this is something I will have to get custom made since I havent seen anyone weird enough to try it. The Benelli R1 barrel is tapped in 4 spots on the barrel, the muzzle and above the chamber, for adding iron sights. So installation should be easy enough.

The benelli R1 has a light weight barrel, which means after only 6-8 consecutive rounds it is already too hot to hold or touch. My main question is how effective it would be at dissipating the heat, would it make the barre cool down faster?

Edit: I'm also wondering if it will negatively affect barrel harmonics

You don't need the barrel to cool down faster, you just need to be able to put your hand there. In the meantime, I suggest a good pair of gloves. With a barrel of modern manufacture, barrel heat isn't actually an issue. But if you're shooting exclusively for groups off a bench and see fit to complain about a 2" group you bought the wrong rifle.

You're overthinking this. Just make a new handguard. The old one comes right off and is mounted securely enough that it's not tilting or rotating in use- nothing would stop your new design from enclosing the barrel. You could easily 3D print one if you had a high-temperature material like nylon (PLA will melt), though you may have to get final production outsourced as printers that can print that size of object in one operation are very expensive. You could even put a rail or M-Lok slots on it if you wanted.

My issue isnt really gripping the rifle when shooting but just a concern with the barrel overheating. But seems like that's a non issue based on your source. Better to leave it alone seems like it
