Misc NRA
Anyone else surprised the NRA from the us doesn’t support their brothers in the north? For a bunch of gun lovers, they don’t mind turning a blind eye

It's good the NRA does not meddle in Canada.
Canadian and American laws differ significantly. American viewpoints on firearm ownership is not applicable to Canada.
The NRA is also too political and bring too much baggage. Their influence would be a liability for Canadian gun owners and critics would jump on it immediately.

The NRA is a bloated advocacy group that does not represent most mainstream gun owners anymore. And because Canadian politics and culture exists, almost solely to be vehemently anti-American and how much bad press the NRA gets in the states and in Canada, it’s likely for the better
Some of the newer and more hip with it groups have voiced their support for us. Colion Noir has been especially vocal.

Not really, the NRA is a US organization.
That's like expecting the CCFR/NFA/CSSA to get involved with France's gun laws.

Tbf…. This wouldn’t surprise me if the CCFR was Quebec based

What makes you say that?

I wouldn’t want their support up here.
We are currently fighting against the Liberal propaganda machine, which is doing a great job of painting us all as “Maple MAGA American wannabe gun-nuts.”
Let’s focus on what we can control and change here, using the unique culture we have worked hard to create.

Better off without them. It's already bad enough that the anti gun folks and groups think the NRA is literally influencing Canada as lobby group, when that simply is not true. I am a little surprised at the silence from the companies though, I know we are not a huge market but it's still a convenient one.

Lol, why would they even care…a large majority of the Canadian firearm community are elbows up, anti US clowns.
We deserve what we get at this point.

As far as I can tell, the NRA's charter strictly prohibits funding gun rights groups or lobbying politicians in other countries. That's not to say they can't chat with gun rights organizations here and try to point them in the right direction. But they most definitely can't do anything on their own.

I mean realistically, what do you think they would do?
They hardly do shit in the US these days except serve as a punching bag for antigun groups

Pretty sure they provide significant cash and voters during elections, no?

If you believe those same antigun groups, sure. The NRA hasn't realistically represented gun owners in years. They make a great scape goat though.

The NRA is a deeply flawed organization that has failed in it’s stated mission for many years now, and have become more of a propagandist arm of the Republican party than a pro-2A advocate and defender. They have had several high publicity moments where they could’ve stood up for The Right to Bear Arms and failed to do so. When Philando Castile was killed, when Trump banned bump stocks, and their support of gun control in the 1920’s, 30’s, and 60’s, targeting immigrants, Italians, and Black people, such as in Reagan’s Mulford Act of 1967 in California.
The NRA famously, repugnantly ignores the firearms rights of Americans they don’t like. Why would they help us?

I think it would do worse for our cause to be honest. Gun culture in the USA vs Canada is pretty different, and it would be political ammo to lump us with them.

Maybe not the NRA. But I'm surprised more pressure doesn't come from the US to allow Canadians to purchase American firearms. Would be awesome if Trump tariffed Carney to unfreeze handguns.

The N doesn’t stand for North America. Support the CCFR if you are looking for a good advocacy organization.
