Big oof. Some proof reading errors there for sure - getting the premiere wrong is pretty embarrassing lol. Their editor needs to be more diligent in fact checking.

So to understand this correctly, an intervention by the Canadian coalition for gun control was not granted by the court but the attorney general of Canada wanted an intervention of the case got to the Supreme Court?
Also if I understand correctly, the article mentions an earlier decision in 2022 when it discusses the CTF being denied an intervention?
Another thing I am confused about is the court not deciding a single intervention motion or the interveners being listed as pending. Why has the court not decided on interventions yet? Do you think interveners like the CTF and safari will get granted? On the other hand do you think the coalition for gun control will get granted an intervention?

It also says the amount if pal holders and then says not to menton the legal gun owners who don't have a Pal. Is he talking about RPAL holders? It's confusing lol

“Having the AG of Ontario, the largest province, is particularly significant, especially since Ontario’s Premier Rob Ford recently said, “Gun owners, protect your guns. Simple as that, don’t ever give them away,”
He’s back! Why would he want to seize guns, he’s got plenty to shoot at home!

"You know what? But it hurts my friend group when they’re calling a friend of mine a criminal. Mike from Canmore is not a criminal. He’s a friend and it makes me sick how people are saying this.
"So unfortunately, I have no other choice. I’m the last one to take legal action. I can’t put up with it anymore.
"So, I’ve named the names. The Appeal will be starting shortly. I’ve had enough. That’s why I warned you guys yesterday, be careful what you wrote, ‘kay? So, that’s all I have to say for now.
"And the next thing I want to call MP Natalie Provost in Quebec and tell her that we’re going to have to spank the little Alouettes.
"Oh, and the last thing was, Mike from Canmore, it says that I wanted to shoot his guns, Mike from Canmore. I’ve never said that in my life to him. I would never do that. I’m happily Licensed. I’ve got more than enough to shoot at home. Thank you very much.”

I low key have been a fan of Doug lately. The dude just kinda says the quiet parts out loud and despite obviously not being a “common” man (he’s rich and doesn’t understand the struggle average people have) he still does kinda resonate on a common level. As far as politicians go, he ain’t bad. Or atleast not any more corrupt than the average one.
My favourite speech of his in recent time was when he got on stage and just started ranting about ice cream sandwiches. Can’t think of any other politician like that.

Sorry, my bad, I straight up confuse those two in real life still. Rob was funny though, even on the crack.

Lately, hey? Rob?

LMAO, my bad.
What’s even funnier is I already had to edit my comment because I accidentally said “I” instead of “He” at one point and it read as if I was speaking as if I was in fact him.
Thanks for the correction on that though. I still confuse them sometimes in real life.

"Why would he want to seize guns, he’s got plenty to shoot at home!"
One of the best quotes of a municipal level politician I have ever heard. Pretty much boasting he's a generous lover.

I don't see these 3 problems (problem of the SCC case, problem of Canadian crime, and problem of Canadian PAL registrants) as bad for the government. The government is the party that currently has the winning-streak in the lower courts, so other than having the confiscation delayed, I don't see how the SCC is a "problem" for the government. Yeah, the government could possibly lose, but it's firearms owners who have the uphill battle. As for increasing crime and pal owners, when have those reasons stopped the government from blaming everything on gun owners? The correlation between increasing crime and pal owners will be twisted into a claim of causation and the mindless public will just nod and accept it.

" The government is the party that currently has the winning-streak in the lower courts, so other than having the confiscation delayed, I don't see how the SCC is a "problem" for the government"
Yesn't. See while all the lower courts said yeah you can do this they also all said that the government has to provide fair compensation for all affected firearms which they clearly have not been doing. Being forced to pay fair compensation for everything is very much a problem for the government otherwise they would have done it from the start.

The lower courts didn't say the government must provide fair compensation

Really? I could have sworn they did.

The reality is the guns aren’t going anywhere, they’re either going to be out in the open or underground, that’s it. There’s no enforcement in the world that will seize the nearly 2 million affected rifles. JT, Carney, Poly and Gary have created the largest black market of weapons in Canadian history.
They took a high compliance trust based system and completely destroyed it for the sake of headlines and virtue signalling. 68000 declared firearms of which 9,000 is void due to being in Alberta and Saskatchewan out of 2 million is literal insanity. The Feds lost, they just won’t admit it yet.
