I've seen it run both ways. It locks nicely haven't had an issue.

Light on the recoil, I only use it while seated. Doesn't go anywhere.

While not for everyone, it serves a purpose for me asside from looks. I like the feel it gives. Having something a little more Substantial than the tiny mags.

I'm also of the opinion that the normal mags just look a bit odd to be,  so when I get a tm22,  I'll probably get the covers too. Then maybe the drum mag when I want more than  10 rounds
