Ruger American Gen II Scout in 5.56, fresh from IRG. Haven’t fired it yet, but it feels great, right out of the box, and excited to try the scout scope arrangement.

How is the stock in the American gen 2? Been looking at the ranch or patrol for a while, but im still hesitant. The gen 1 is know for a tupperware stock. I want to shoot of a biood

I owned both a .308 and a .22LR in the Gen 1, and I know exactly what you mean. Now I haven’t handled either of the Gen 2 Ranch or Patrol models, but it is my understanding that it should be roughly the same standard stock on most of the Gen 2s, and in my brief experience the stock on this Scout is absolutely improved. The only thing I might have wanted would be a section of Picatinny or M-LOK on the fore end, but there shouldn’t be any issue at all installing a bipod using the sling swivel. Overall the fit and finish is way better all around.
