Buy recommendations Lookin for a gunsmith that does barrels
Alright this is a question to all the ELR/PRS guys.
I'm building my first ever custom rifle. I've bought custom but never built my own and I've decided to build one. ANYWAYS back to the question. I need a barrel I'm looking at "Bartlein" for a barrel thinking about doing between a 28-30inch barrel (leaning towards 28inch) I'm in southern Alberta where would be a good place that isn't terrible to get one made for my action I'm either going with the defiance ruckus or the impact 777r I'm not dead set on the action just wanted to see if the barrel would be cheaper for one or not I got a quote from a big store and they wanted almost $600 more than my buddy paid but that guy isn't taking any more work right now.
TLDR: where should I go to get a barrel made for my first ever precision rifle build. Got a quote and it was stupid high compared to what a buddy paid and isn't taking more work so asking for references.

Ya he sold his business and it’s moving out by pine lake sometime this winter I believe and he’s going to work part time out there… I’ve heard good things about his barrels so I got to wait and see how it works out for myself

Get the barrel you can find easily, Bartlein, Kreiger, Brux, Benchmark, CRB etc they are all good barrel makers. But most importantly, is your gunsmith.
26-28inch are the main stream choice for PRS. ELR is different.
A lot of options for premium action, maybe go to matches or local clubs, try and feel others action before you decide which one to go

KS Arms. Plenty of Podium finishers in the Foothills Series / Canadian Pro Matches are running KS Barrels.
A threaded 26" MTU Barrel threaded for a muzzle device and installed and chambered on your rifle will run you around 1200.
