Feets / Collection / My build M6 survival rifle 3D printed stock insert/build
Hypothetical for now, but I'm currently working with a local company and trying to gauge people's interest in a 3d printed stock for the chiappa M6 22/12g survival rifles to replace the factory molded polypropylene foam insert.
The new insert would have additional .22 storage similar to pictured and a bit more shallow so the end of the round can actually be grabbed instead of trying to pry it out with a finger nail. It would retain the same 12g and cleaning kit storage holes and likely be printed from some kind of TPU filament to give it a more tacky/grippy feel. Whether it still floats can't be determined without a prototype in hand but the weight difference would probably be negligible. The entire insert would be mostly hollow with a honeycomb pattern inside for rigidity under recoil.
Not sure how many people actually own these things and would be interested since they definitely don't have the same following as the little badger.

I was literally just on RDSC and saw that thing. Watched a yt review and now here you are.
I’m interested in getting one, I’m just not sure if I’d rather get it over a Henry 30-30 for almost the same price

I will say they SHOULD be a couple hundred $$ cheaper. It has been good so far however, and feels very sturdy

You’re right. I was looking at the m6 with the 8 extra barrels. That one is only like 200 bucks less then the Henry I was looking at whoops
The “standalone” m6 .22/12g is only like 6302

If you want the caliber conversion adapters a place called parts only canada sells then individually. I bought the 410/45colt and planning to get the 12g/9mm as well. More economical for me honestly since the kit comes with at least 4 that I'd never use

Looks good, heads up. Wrapping the barrel like that caused my 22 barrel to ever so slightly curve. Couldnt get the 22 to zero, then i look through the barrel, i couldnt see thru it due to the curve. So i took the paracord off and its fine now.

Nope, it was the paracord. Tied it so tight the barrel was bending. Thin barrel. I have the 20 over 22wmr

You would probably make more selling the 3mf or stls on cults for 15 bucks then selling stock kits personally, you also get the us market as well

This is true, however it was a bit difficult to actually find a place with a large enough printer to do it all in one piece. Maybe both could be offered for those that don't have access to a printer

Actually most printers can cut and due dovetails in the slicer software now, 252mm is new standard bed size as wellz if you ever want to pick my brain for 3d prints feel free to pm me

What’s the overall cost? In principle I love it but when we start comparing the value proposition gets a bit stark?

To be decided after a prototype is done and I'm happy with the fit. I'd try to keep it on the cheaper end for sure, what would you realistically be comfortable paying for something like this?

Ah. I was meaning overall unit cost as outfitted!
Love the concept. Support local all the way. Just trying to understand total unit price point. Very cool OP. If it floats fully kitted I think that is a major bonus.

Ah my bad! The standalone rifles are usually $580-$650 depending on sales or who's selling it etc. If you add the 8 piece adapter kit it just breaks 1k I believe

Do you have the calibre insert set for this? Id be interested if you can have 44 mag, 357 inserts in the stock too. Kinda like a mix of a bunch of the other calibres this thing can spit

See my reply above, I did consider putting a slot in the stock for a single adapter tube but for now I think ill just velcro a pouch on the side since they're only 8" long

Would be cool to throw some other stuff into it too like a wire snare and maybe even a small foldable knife, some flint and steel, maybe even some cotton ball. Essentially have a basic survival kit in the stock

I did think about that but it might be a bit difficult with all the holes protruding down into the inside while still having enough strength. There isnt a whole ton of room in there

UPDATE
Guy has had a pretty hard time getting all the holes lined up, it was quite difficult getting a good scan of the foam and there were a ton of micro adjustments that had to be estimated and printed to test each time. Pretty slow going and lots of tweaks still but a bit of progress

I just bought one of these and am in the process of making a wooden stock and would be very interested to see how 3d printed ones turn out.
