Buy recommendations ELCAN SpecterDR 1.5x-6x 7.62 BDC or similar optics

Hello everyone. I’ve been struggling to find an appropriate optic for my Ruger Scout .308. I do not like the traditional scout scope setup, it’s a bit awkward. I’ve tried an LPVO and it was just okay. Looking for opinions and advice from individuals who have used the Spectre or a Spectre clone. I’m open to other optic recommendations as well. Thanks.

I've shot a rifle with a SpectreDR. It's nice, but not something worth the price tag, especially on a bolt action. IMO. It's clearly marketed at government buyers where budget doesn't matter.

Personally I'd take a nice FFP LPVO. 1-10 probably, though I mostly use 1-6.

The price tag for an Elcan is definitely eye watering. A clone with similar specs would be ideal to try out first. I like the idea of going from 1.5-6 power immediately without anything in between.

I don’t hate the LPVO. When I was running one it just sat too high for my liking, was an uncomfortable cheek weld, especially when standing. Maybe I will try it out again with different rings.

Thanks for your input.

308 has enough range that personally I’d suggest a 2-12, I’ve had a ton of fun with that magnification range.

The elcan 1.5-6 is ~25oz, an Athlon Helos BTR GEN2 with a lightweight mount will be ~31oz, a 6oz difference for much better performance, eye box and higher magnification range.

Thanks for the recommendation, I’ll look into the Athlon. Do you use the Athlon yourself?
