Just saw this video that came up on my YouTube feed. Prior to 1969 I guess it was legal to hunt with a handgun/revolver. In less than 60 years so much has changed in regards to bs firearms restrictions smh.

Anyways shout out to "The Way to Native Chronicles". He makes a lot of good Canadian gun/hunting content.

I've already referred you to them.

I'll provide you with the research instructions.

  1. Look up the StatsCan table of total homicides.

  2. Adjust the date slider to 1961 as the start date.

  3. Look at how that shows the number in 1961 is 233 homicides.

  4. Look at how the number in 2025 is 672 and how it's even been above that at some points but never back down to 1961 levels.

  5. Process the fact that's a rough threefold increase from 1961 until 2025.

  6. Account for the fact that the licensing model for firearms in Canada has only been slightly refined during that time span and then compare that to the tightening restrictions by type in that same span.

  7. Realise that your original claim is incorrect and that the tightening regime yielded no statistically measurable results. Homicides still went up despite your 'general trend' claim. Firearms access remained fairly static and rates still climbed. Firearms types got tightened and rates still climbed. Almost like things are more complicated than generalizations eh?

But please. Do keep digging the rhetorical hole.
