I bought it right before releasing all of my new Homesteader parts, I've been way too busy with orders to test it yet haha. I'd like to go iut tomorrow to shoot, will let you know.
Ok range report, kind of a piece of shit hahaha. Constant failure to feed, I'm going to find invest in some snap caps to figure out the issue.
It's almost like it gets caught up when you pump forward, and it can't quite catch onto the rim of the next shell. At one point the previous shell didn't eject but it did attempt to load the next, and since the ejection hole and loading gate are the same hole they kind got stuck pretty bad.
In the gun's defense I didn't clean or disassemble or anything before testing it. Still, stuff should work out of the box, at least for a little while!
I'd heard that they were finicky feeders, which was kind of always my fear. They look cool, are a neat idea on paper for a fun goof around shooter, but I'd heard they were hit or miss on initial reliability which was making me shy away.
I hope it improves, as does the fun, if it was packing grease related may not be too bad to get it going though I never knew Turkish guns in the past to have too much trouble with that. Thanks for the range report!
Got a bit of an update, now that I've got some snapcaps I found the issue. The shells sometimes do not come out forward enough, seems they're rubbing on the inside of the tube at the very end. I'll attach 2 pics, one of them stuck and one of where they should be. Seems to get better over time, and is more prevelent on the last 2 shells (less spring force pushing them out)
Huh, interesting... the tube is mishapen inside or torqued off centre or something perhaps? If I ever get one, and that's a pretty big if now, I'll have to remember to watch out for this, thanks for the update! Hope you're able to find a good solution that smooths it out a bit.
No solution yet but found the culprit, I was too busy looking at the right arm to notice this one on the left. This is supposed to be pushed to the left and down when you pump the action towards you. Then you pump forward and it goes into battery. Then that left arm moves out of the way and lets another shell get into its ready position.
Sometimes when pumping forward it doesnt move out of the way, so that's the issue.
Ahhh no kidding, I have shell release issues on my Chinese 1897 clone, because one side came missing its seating screw and I didn't notice for a long time. It's a bit of a PITA when that's causing the issues, wonder what's causing it not to function correctly...
Alright final update, got it to work and this is the issue. The left shell stop (Black one) is fit in place via a hole on the right of the receiver. This pin was pushed too far in, so I had to punch the pin outwards from the inside of the loading port. Runs flawlessly now.
The pin was pushed too far inwards, making the shell stop too close to the center of the shell. When it was supposed to be out of the way it would instead block a shell.
All in all I ended up taking the entire shotgun apart, so at least I know it inside and out now haha
Nice collection! There has been requests over on CGN for a less chonky, lower profile handguard for the IWI Carmel. Would that be a project that you would be interested in?
Fairly certain Homesteader and Supremes have the same spacing and threads! Unfortunately I am out of stock right now, should have more in sbout a month
Yeah, I made the mistake of thinking that and bought a rail from another vendor only to find the screws were too long an blocked the action. Seems like there aren't too many options on the Canuck side of the border.
