Hard to show many photos under a comment but here's a photo of the charging handle slide that wedges itself under the handguard. Metal is chipping and peening on both components. Even if enough clearance is created between the two parts, the bolt carrier engagement pin on the charging handle assembly will slam into the front of the charging handle slot, and the charging handle detent will not be aligned with the circular depression shown in this photo.
