Trump's new crazy 50% tax and imports

Does anyone know if Trump's new tax is going to affect the final price of the Mikasi if I put a deposit on it already on the basis of the listed price? I definitely can't justify more than the listed price. Kinda worried here.

Edit: In response to all the, 'learn how tariffs work' responses...it's quite possible/likely that retaliatory tariffs will be put on American goods and I wonder if that will affect the price of the Mikasi. Do stores have to honour the original posted price? Do they have to give back the deposit if they can't honour the original price due to counter tariffs?

Who knows when these will be finally imported and it looks like an intense trade war is possible over the next few months.

Tax and tariffs are two different things. I don't know if the wrinkled Cheetos rolled out fresh taxes or fresh tariffs or just threw dogshit on a dumpster fire, but you're right that import tariffs only affect Americans buying international products. I don't know if they have a different name but you can definitely slap an added fee on domestic products that get exported

If you had made that your question to begin with you wouldn't have had everyone wondering if you didn't understand how tariffs work.

As it stands now, who the f knows what Carney will do? All we know is that Trump put a 50% tariff on the the things he targeted which at this point is described as "covering products ranging from wine to hockey sticks to cement."

It's possible Canada retaliates by putting on a tariff on an unrelated product like firearms. It's possible the company that makes the Makasi also has a stake in a U.S. alcoholic beverages going back the other way and then wants to raise prices on their firearms business. It's possible Trumps tariffs just depresses the U.S. economy even more and prices are raised by every American exporter just because business all over is shit.

You're going to get a lot of what if answers that won't tell you shit about whether your Makasi is still going to have its price honoured.

EDIT: asking if you were an American wasn't meant as an insult. You're initial post made it sound like you did not know how tariffs work and so I wondered if you knew as Americans were the ones affected by it.

Trump's latest tariffs don't impact any of our imports unless the Canadian government puts up a reciprocal tariff that includes firearms. It only affects goods being imported into the US from Canada.

Trumps tariffs do not impact the cost of goods exported from the US. However if Canada decides to implement a counter tariff, it is possible depending on the scope of the counter tariff.

Tariffs are an import tax paid by the importer, something that politicians on both sides of the border don't seem to want to advertise...

It could if the manufacturer is relying on Canadian aluminum similar to how everyone in the USs home insurance is jumping due to Canadian lumber being affected.

Yup this is partly why ammo has had such a big price jump too, the ingredients are made else where for the most part. (Alot of powders come from canada or down under) and same with the stuff the make primers our of it. Most of it comes from china/canada.

TARIFSS ARE NOT FOR IMPORTS into Canada. They only affect EXPORTS to the USA. You buy from USA and you won't even pay PST. Things will cost more in Canada due to a smaller supply and lack of economy of scale. Instead of getting a mass produced AR15 you have to get some boutique small batch small manufacturer firearm instead with high production costs.
