Misc GunPost Rant: Whats up with Bob's Used Mags Prices/Ads
First off I woke up ealry today and listed a few new items to start off the week
Then here comes The B.U.M and literally bumps up 40 pages of ads
So my new listings are now in page 40 lol
Furthermore when I first started using Gunpost a few years back I messaged him about a mag i needed, I made an offer for 10$ less ( I was over paying at even 10$ off ) and he wrote me a huge reply saying hes doing me a solid by providing Canada gun owners with unobtainable magazines, and then blocks me.
I actually just went thru all 40 pages looking at his mags and his prices are thru the roof, some mags hes selling are available New from major retailers at half off his prices
Morning coffee rant
Have a good week everyone

He is a regular on the southern ontario gunshow circuit. GP finally made him get a business account, for what he pays in banner space and bumping his ads, he has to charge what he does, he sure as shit doesn't make anything on his sales volume.

Lmao he's had the same mags in those faded display cases for years. Woodstock gun show fuds drive me nuts. Especially the ammo guys same ammo 10 years later marked up to "like new" prices

$95 + $26 shipping for a used Glock mag with some randos name on it??? that's a $45 mag new! This guy is crazy

Sounds like a quintessential entitled boomer.Â
They canât fathom not charging people extortionate prices for random shit, and of course they think they are geniuses for simply accumulating random junk so it probably rubbed him the wrong way to have his genius questioned.Â
Itâs funny that we locked down and destroyed our economies and futures to âprotectâ them during covid. Theyâre the most selfish and self centred peopled imaginable. Even with the current pro-Canada hysteria it actually makes me sick to hear them talk about any sort of collectivism or anything along those lines. These people would sell their own grand children for a couple silver coinsÂ

I actually sent a message to Gunpost to see if there's a way to block his ads, but no luck.

I tried the same for TommyEnt. I have no need for 3d printed accessories for guns I don't own, but he spams my local page with a hundred listings all in a row so I can't find anything and can't block it at all.

Luckily he is listed as a dealer and one of the filters let's you only show owners, I usually just turn that on when I see his ads.

This guy must be crazy. I can't imagine he makes any sales if he posts used mags for double the price of new ones. I've just learned he has a business account so he pays to use GP? Also, he spends time reposting his ads every couple days. I don't know why he does it (other than crazy).
Could we all write to GP and ask them to make a feature to block this guy?

And TommyEnt! I don't mind him selling but Holy frig I hate going through 10 pages of his shit before I see a real local seller.

TommyEnt! I don't mind him sellingÂ
His furniture is borderline scammy considering the quality. Seems like newbies buy his gear because it looks cool...

He's an old boomer, not very chatty, very serious guy. Bought off him once because he had some mags that were really hard to find and he had a couple. Ridiculous price though. He knew what he had

ah B.U.M (his acronym, not mine)
Peak fudd, will never change. He knows what he's got.

Seems part of the course with GunPost, there are some seriously weird people on it.
I was recently dealing with a seller who listed a supposedly pristine military surplus rifle for slightly above market price. The seller ended up spending a week messaging about random stuff, dicking around, and generally wasting time. Then, at the last minute, he cancels the deal because he suddenly found a "defect" with his otherwise perfect rifle.
Just ignore the "BUM" đ

Some of the guys I've dealt with on GP have been so weird I genuinely have wondered "how the fuck does someone this weird get a firearms license".

I always see this guy at every gun show in Southern Ontario. To be fair he has a nice inventory of hard to find magazines but his prices are fuckin criminal and I've never actually seen anyone buy shit from him at any gun show I've seen him at lol. I'll never understand these boomer fudds who pay to rent tables at these gun shows while they refuse to sell anything below their asking price. I guess they would rather just hold on to everything until they eventually croak in 3-5 years.
Whoever inherits all his shit is probably gonna just chuck everything in the trash or sell everything for pennies on the dollar anyways smh.

Ask him a question about his products and his answer will be âno ideaâ. He is the worst thing about gunpost. I wish I could block him and not see his over priced junk.

I'd love to see GunPost be anything else besides GunRePost. It's the constant same junk peddled by the same people. At least the dude trying endlessly to sell his "Live and legal M16" isn't shoving it into people's face with multiple posts

u/HappyCan7250 3d ago
Is that M16 still up? Probably the same one I saw on their about 1.5 years ago. I was pretty shocked to find a full auto up for sale when I was still new to GP. Then I learned about few old timers with endorsements who can still buy stuff like that.
All good to legally sell and own an auto M16 in Canada if you're 60+ years old, but god forbid I want a cheap PSA AR for $500.

spend some quality time with AI and write up a custom adblock rule or tampermonkey script to hide this shit

Yes, they're pricey, and the spam is annoying.
However.
The service you're paying for here is "someone in-country has the item you want" and "you'll have it by the end of the week". So you can spend a few months looking for the magazine you want, or jumping through the hoops for import/export (and waiting a couple months to get it through customs)... or you can pay an extra hundred dollars up front for him to have done that for you and then you actually get to use the gun to which it goes.
Would it be cheaper to throw away the old gun and buy a new one that is better in every way and its mags are 40 dollars instead of 120? (The answer is "yes", by the way- the reason you're keeping the old one around is either because it's an heirloom, or because you bought it for 150 dollars with no magazine at a gun show thinking that finding one would be easy.)
Clearly, his business model works, or he wouldn't be doing it.
Now, it would be delightful if someone else made it their business to make 3D scans of magazines from said old guns, then sold the springs that you'd need to make them work with whatever manufacturing technology you have available to you (in particular SLS; a lot of .22 magazines have small features that don't lend themselves well to being made out of plastic), but so far nobody has been angry enough having to take used magazine prices up the B.U.M. to compete with him.

I've met a lot of old guys like this, asking ridiculous prices on classifieds. Most of the time they rarely ever sell anything, they're collectors (hoarders) or people who enjoy the rush/gamble of buying things and trying to make a profit on it, regardless of if something ever sells. Funny thing is they usually die with a hoard and it ends up going to auction, the landfill, or the crusher, depending on their hobby.
