Exporting firearms, ammunition, parts and accessories from the US: most items are controlled under ITAR and you cannot, as an individual, export these items from the USA. Canada does not care in most cases. If you attempt to bring any of these items across the border yourself and you are caught, you will face prison time in the US. If you wish to export items from the USA, use a broker such as IRUNGUNS, Aztech, or Prophet River.

If you took your CFSC and lost the paperwork, you can still apply for your PAL. Both your instructor and the CFP retain copies, you can request a copy by contacting either one. There is no expiration date on the paperwork, you do not have to retake the course. Updated list of scam websites is here.

If you have new scam sites to add, please message the mod team. Be careful: only use reputable sites to purchase things online. It is illegal to manufacture a non-restricted, restricted, or prohibited firearm.

Any posts or comments asking about the legality of making a firearm other than a reproduction antique will be removed. It was not always illegal, which is why you will find old posts regarding this topic. Rest assured, it is illegal now. Do not attempt.

I haven't bought anything in a while since they rolled out the PAL verification for non-restricted firearm purchases, can you still go into a store have PAL verified and walk out that day with your purchase or does the verification take days?

I still struggle to understand pricing and rarity of some firearms. I really want a PU mosin but holy crap is that gun $2500 worthy? How about a 7.62N Mauser, does it make sense to pay $1500 on one? Not even gonna comment on the $3000 Finnish M39, a dream of mine. Where and how people get these guns for less?

The time for that kind of thing was before 2014. Same with other old milsurp, they will only get more expensive the older they get and future geopolitical events will only exacerbate the price increases.

Best thing you can hope for in this specific case is a modernized mosin-nagant from Ukraine in a VM MP-UOS chassis for somewhere between $1200 to $1500 if they choose to export & someone decides that getting the juice from importing them here is worth the squeeze.

What the current legality of .458 SOCOM mags that are pinned to 5 rounds of .458 SOCOM?

I guess you don’t know what I’m asking. The .458 SOCOM mags were in a grey area a while back, wondering if the government made any sort of decision? Or are they still good to go pinned to 5 .458?

I’m pretty sure those are now limited to 5 rounds of 556. Proof is you don’t see them for sale anymore at 5 rounds of 458 socom. But I don’t believe this has been tested in court but rather is the RCMP’s opinion, but IANAL.

But yeah the guy you’re replying to has no idea what you’re asking about, agreed.

While this is generally true this is dangerous and likely illegal advice in the case of .50 beo or 458 or other STANAG compatible calibres. I’m going to give you the benefit of the doubt and take this as you posting in good faith but someone following your advice could’ve gotten in big trouble with the RCMP.
