Application / Regulation advice Firearms on BC ferries??? Need to declare??

Hi. I am going on a hunting trip from prince rupert to skidegate on bc ferries.

Is there a need to declare my firearms as "dangerous goods" when buying my ticket?

This seems like such a hassle and heard from people that they don't even care/check.

Any advice would be great. Thanks!

Firearms themselves are not a dangerous goods, so no need to declare that. If you are carrying ammo, however, that is class 1.4S dangerous goods. If you fail to declare that and there is a fire incident onboard, you could be in deep trouble.

Which is silly because the gasoline in your car is more dangerous
