590A1 was my first gun as well. Still works like an absolute champ. Solid buy. Enjoy your many years of pump action fun. Only thing ill say is make sure the grub screw on the front sight is properly torqued. Had the sight come off at the range the second time out.

Thank you for this. I hit it with some medium strength thread locker so hopefully it will hold.

Double check the nut that keeps the stock on too.

Honestly everything will rattle itself loose on it lol. Had to put thread locker on my flashlight too since it was coming loose. Same light as well.

I originally had a magpul picatinny section with the original stream light mount and it was so bulky. It also just came loose from dry fire exercises and the screws that held it on were really small. A big reason why I was really happy with the arisaka mount is that it uses stronger screws and removes the need for picatinny.

I think next range day I will take an assortment of needed tools just to keep everything in order and see what gets loose so I can threadlock it. I appreciate the heads up.

I use the mlok mount but yeah the screws are pretty small. Put some blue loctite on them and they've been fine for a few hundred shells but I'll look into the arisaka mount.

Little bit of loctite blue goes a long way

Very good gun, nice setup but that’s not a magpul forend. Looks to be the Mossberg aluminum Mlok forend that comes on the 590a1 SPX, which I believe yours is.

Good way to start for sure!

You've chosen well. My 590 is my favorite gun, even pushing out certain ones that were lost in a tragic boating accident.

Damn I heard Mike from Canmore was magnet fishing so maybe he found them and is looking to buy them off your hands.

It's the deepest lake in the country. Mike doesn't have a chance.

Starting to look at these over the Beretta a300 ultima... Anyone have any comparisons?

The only real downside of a semi automatic is perceived reliability but with shotguns like the Benelli M4 you see that they are no less reliable then any of the most reliable pumps.

The whole reasoning for going with a pump atleast for me and a 590A1 at that was that I wanted a gun that would last me my lifetime and was everything short of bomb proof although there are rumours these survived some grenades and other explosives in war. I didn’t want to have to worry about gas seals in 20 years time pretty much.

Another thing with semis is that they can sometimes be pretty sensitive to the load you are shooting. Some don’t cycle with certain loads while others cycle with some. I wanted to remove that possibility for error which is why I went pump.

If home defense ever becomes legal in Canada I do imagine picking up a semi auto shotgun one day for sure and plan on getting one regardless as I feel for everything short of shtf/grid down they are superior in many ways especially with today’s technology.

I mean the a300 is semi auto hard to compare

This is like buying a lambo for your first gun. Fantastic choice! You’ll love it

I mean, a Benelli would be the lambo.

These things are bombproof utilitarian tools. Like the Hilux of guns lol.
