Maybe the same idea should be implemented for a 5.56 platform.

Button/lever release still counts as semiauto as per the Criminal Code.

The owen gun is an amazing piece of history and is not ugly. it was based on the sten gun and it was made with cheap components. Like OP said, it was made by a teen with limited knowledge and was tinkering with firearms.

Is this one of those guns where the bolt locks back every time after firing and you press a bolt release to send it home? Those are still considered semi automatic firearms under the Firearms Act.
