Application / Regulation advice Olympic exemption
I got my exemption and purchased a pistol on may 18th, the first week of June the CFO had the papers and a week later I got the reference number. It’s now been over a month, with one follow up call and they said ‘it’s still on their desk and hasn’t been reviewed’
I own a couple other registered pistols from pre-ban times
How long have others waited for this process to be finalized?
UPDATE: received transfer notice this morning !
4 days short of two months after purchase

BC approved mine in about 2 weeks. Just came in the mail! Which handgun did you purchase if I may ask?

6.5” 9 shot Taurus tracker revolver

Sick, I was thinking of doing a Taurus tracker, but wasn’t sure if they’d approve it since it’s 22LR and 22WMR. I know what I’m filing for next!!

From what I gathered, as long as it’s 22cal and Rimfire it’s good, doesn’t specifically need to be 22lr

But same, I was stoked on the 2nd cylinder but also wasn’t sure if it would cause a hang up. But, all clear!

Fuck I’m definitely wiling for my tracker exemption next haha. Thanks for the confirmation that it’s possible! (Did you put 22LR and 22WMR on the paperwork or just 22LR?)

lol
Def not gunna self incriminate

Actually another question if I may ask, and you can DM or not respond if you don’t feel comfortable, but did you denote .22LR on the paperwork, and import the .22LR version and buy the .22WMR cylinder separately, or import the dual cylinder version and just put .22LR as the caliber?

What was your other exemption(s) for? If I can ask, if I had to guess a ruger mark 3, maybe 4

Exempted for a ruger mk4 22/44 (went with the safe option since I knew a couple people who went this route and got one, wanted to see if I could too before filing for anything else).
I’m also actually in talks with a couple verifiers to convert one of those 45LC/410 revolver rifles/ shotguns into a restricted version with a revolver pistol grip, thereby having a pseudo handgun, which so far, is a totally legal channel too

Yeah I’ve heard about this, you can change the grip to make it restricted but the barrel length can’t be modified
They now make those 410/45 revolver shotguns with rifles barrels so it makes shooting pistol rounds make a lot more sense1
u/Vintage_Pieces_10 8d ago
They did have a 5” barrel version of a 410 only one, I was waiting for a 5” version of a 45/410 one to fully commit to the build. If they weren’t so top heavy though I’d be open to doing it with their 9” barrel version. At any rate, for science, I’ll be doing it at some point haha

What firearm was it for if I may ask? The govt contacted me and said they needed my exemption letter before they would start on anything else, did you hand anything to them yet?

I bought the pistol, sent the CFO my exemption to put on my file
Then waited for it to be finalized
I knew they would ask for it so I made sure they had it before they had to ask for it

Lucky, I’ve been trying to find a range that does competitive stuff so I can get mine but no luck

My ranger doesnt do any competitive stuff whatsoever, we have a pistol range, and on that I ‘train’ for competition

Compared to center fire, sure
But the semi auto I already have is tons of fun, now adding a dbl action revolver to the mix to improve my trigger pull will be great. While I reload for my center fire pistols, it’s still great to be able to blast of numerous magazines for next to nothing in ammo cost. I’m plinkin an 8” steel gong at 100m, and that took a lot of practice.7

Boys that shoot for the bang instead of the ting will swuak the loudest about a 22.
Get out there and hit those targets, mate.

It would be pretty neat still doing drills and IPSC matches.
Plus, I think revolver is also possible with 22lr exemption?
Heritage Rough Rider is what comes to mind for a 22lr fun time.

Taurus tracker can have both a .22LR and .22WMR cylinder, which is a cool option

I already have a semi auto target pistol in 22lr, and
Wanted a wheel gun for the collection
Heritage are revolvers that work, but I was after something a lil better than an economic SA.
