News / Politics / Activism CCFR launches class action in SK that could benefit us all

https://firearmrights.ca/the-ccfr-launches-unprecedented-class-action-lawsuit/

Today, Canada’s gun lobby, the Canadian Coalition for Firearm Rights (The CCFR), filed an unprecedented class action application against the Federal Government utilizing recent amendments to Saskatchewan’s Provincial Firearms Act. The action aims to hold the Federal Government to their promise to compensate licensed gun owners for their lawfully acquired property made worthless after the May 1, 2020 firearm bans and subsequent actions. This is the latest countermeasure The CCFR has launched to protect licensed gun owners against an unreasonable and overreaching Liberal government.

If successful, a certified class action would force the government to pay full and fair compensation to affected residents of Saskatchewan for not only their banned firearms, but for other affected property such as accessories and in some cases, ammunition. This case will significantly impact decisions currently under consideration by other provinces and territories regarding the government’s embattled firearm bans and “compensation program”.

this only benefits us in that they will pay us what they are worth, a real benefit would be them just doing away with all this nonsense and not trying to ban / take them in the first place.

The idea is to make this whole program as expensive as humanly possible for the feds, so they won't have a choice but to drop it like the long gun registry.

fair point, let the public know what it's really going to cost while they continue to do next to nothing about the illegal guns being the problem.

It’s a good idea, and there’s not much else we can do so I applaud the CCFR, but unfortunately I’m just too cynical. I think Carney could go on CBC and livestream himself burning 100 trillion dollars and most of Canada would make excuses for him and call him a genius and manage to make it about how PP is literally Hitler

To be fair Mr. PP did it to himself by going all in on being Israel's top goy. He would've won if he didn't go Israel first for the last stretch of his marathon. Only reason Carney was able to swing the polls back to favor liberals the way I see it.

I’ve literally never heard that. That wasn’t even a factor in any of the polling done.

I think that’s just your weird obsession. All though I do think the latent philosemitism in the CPC is cringe, that’s not why he lost the election.

Any chance he had of getting my vote dissolved instantly when he called himself "a simple goy from the prairies"

Patriots have 0 tolerance for foreign interference.

u/WeightedDips95 9d ago

Maybe he was trying to redpill people by bringing attention to the word goy? /s

But in all seriousness, like I said, I don’t like it. But the alternative is a government spying on you, replacing you completely, taking away every liberty. I think the CPC can be perfected but the LPC will destroy everything

Lol no shit there won't be any polling done on that topic, and even if there was idk how honest those answers would be but really think about it... In New York Madani swept all the other Candidates on that 1 topic. PP was ahead on all polls what do you think turned the tide in Carney's favor within a week? I was pissed when Carney won. The one thing I hate about the conservatives in both Canada and America is how stubborn they are on ignoring this issue. You guys downplay the seriousness of that topic while the left virtue signals and sweeps the naturalized citizens demographic (Newsflash: they outnumber you). Right leaning groups refuse to get their head out of their ass on the 1 topic that could actually make change happen and that's why the 80% gravitate the other way. Down vote me all you want were losing the battle and none of its gonna matter cuz you guys would rather argue gun bans than what the country actually cares about.

The cult of PP is strong in this subreddit.

The tragic and senseless Salsa Festival shootings this past weekend in Toronto seem to be tipping the scales. The police chief, city councillors, and the progressive mayor, Olivia Chow, all seem to be firing shots over the bow, towards the federal government.

Calling the issues out, such as American, illegal guns entering the country; not legal, law abiding gun owners and collectors being the issue.

The whole point is to do nothing but look like they're doing something. They don't even believe in the bans, they're doing just enough to keep their constituents(unfortunately the majority of Canada) happy. The sad truth is it's easier to keep the majority of Canadians misinformed and voting for your virtue signalling party than it is to do something about it and risk making an even bigger mess. One requires almost no effort and keeps them in office, the other requires too much effort and comes with risks. Optics. The whole facade only works because of the smoke and mirrors.

Disagree with your take on how PP lost, but 1000% agree with you on this haha

1

u/HoneyGlazedSlut 10d ago

We don't have to agree but the beauty of free speech means you have to atleast consider it. The ppl blindly down voting me are the reason why Canada will never truly progress in the right direction. You guys debated all the reasons he lost and this NEVER came up before? After he was doing so well too. I even got my whole family to go out and vote for him. Fuck man Canada's cooked if our main 2 options are Leftist Socialists and Blind Stubborn Conservatives :/

u/Anla-Shok-Na 11d ago

Or it would force them to publicly declare it an outright confiscation (instead of the low key confiscation they're trying to get away with now)

2

u/Dill_Pickle_Tears 11d ago

Yeah this is really the goal, not actually extracting compensation

24

u/Tallguystrongman 11d ago

True. It’s not the best outcome but it’s the fighting every level of this garbage that we NEED to do to make them realize it’s not easy or cheap to do.

19

u/TescoValueSoup 11d ago

Don't quote me but I think the underlying strategy is to force the Liberal government's hand, as they (the government) would want to avoid that costly outcome.
The play is to get the bans reversed or reduced in scope, whatever that might look like.

u/GinnAdvent 11d ago

I mean if they really want us to go in, like a poker game. If I include everything I have with rifles, handguns, shotguns, ammo and all the other accessories?

Probably 160k dollars?

Like sure, you either take all or don't take them, not half way it.

Surely, Liberal government can spare 4 billions dollars to buy everything plus administration cost, if they dare to that is.

My prediction is this (and before you mistake as being a Carney fanboy, keep in mind im 100% a CPC voter):

The supreme court nullifies the OICs. They've low key already hinted that to Carney and the "higher ups" that this will likely happen. Carney will use it as an escape ramp to ditch the buyback and have the Supreme Court take the heat from the "Poly Psychos". The Liberal party however will introduce shortly after the ruling a new Firearms Bill. That bill will essentially ban the importation, transfer and manufacture of all detachable mag fed centerfire semi automatic in Canada. Current owners will be able to keep and use the guns currently in their pocession. But upon death or loss of PAL authorization due to criminal stuff , the firearms are expected to be destroyed, or deactivated.

With this method the Liberals get to claim that the guns are banned, no public money will be wasted destroying them, no ugly and controversial confiscations or seizures will occur and the currently "lawful owners" will be allowed to use them "lawfully" for the hunting and sport shooting uses they've enjoyed as part of their generation's lifetime.

Obviously as a Conservative I'd want better then this, but this strikes me as a realistic outcome.

That bill will essentially ban the importation, transfer and manufacture of all detachable mag fed centerfire semi automatic in Canada.

I am ready for Bullet Button shenanigans to become our new cope.

16

u/Planters_Donuts 11d ago

Canceling the OICs would be on the table as a possible remedy I would quess

1

u/IcySkyDream 10d ago

Look at the big picture, man.

14

u/BrotherLefthand 10d ago

The additional legal costs as well as the original cost of the buyback has so grossly surpassed any shred of value to public safety is so absolutely mind-boggling.

Not only are we in a recession, we've seen productivity drop across the country. Our economy is fucked. Maintaining this bill is purely ideologic and draconian.

29

u/rastamasta45 11d ago

LOOL I literally just posted this, good stuff, we all need to donate to them for their legal fees! We need to turn up the pressure against the LPC and their god forsaken bans!

8

u/cdn_sentry117 11d ago edited 10d ago

This is exactly why I have recurring donations every month to the CCFR. They're the only group doing anything meaningful to help gun owners. Now the real question is why more people aren't donating what they can. There's a cost to fighting the good fight!

u/K0bra_Ka1 11d ago edited 11d ago

As someone who thinks the CCFR has done a lot of dumb things, and that Tracey is a massive liability, this is a great plan. It's a shame other provinces didn't adopt Saskatchewan's method of dealing with the buyback.

22

u/hellfire-r9x 11d ago

Damn I thought I was alone on this. The AI brain rot isn't helping her either.

8

u/K0bra_Ka1 11d ago

She's honestly lucky her opposition or media hasn't picked up on how far she's gone. It's a huge liability

5

u/WeightedDips95 10d ago

It’s funny cause I follow her on twitter and she doesn’t actually post anything insane as you guys constantly allude to. She regularly interviewed by heavily left leaning outlets and her stance on other issues has literally never been an issue.

Once again the only people who try to make it an issue are left wing temporary gun owners that literally cannot stand people having different opinions.

Like Rod Giltaca talks about similar things but I’ve literally not once heard anyone criticize him. It’s cause one person started talking about Tracy and it just became a self perpetuating meme/myth. If people stopped talking about it here it would cease to be an issue over night

u/K0bra_Ka1 10d ago

She absolutely posts AI slop. She was recently at the IS Ambassadors house for 4th of July with a lot of people that are actively trying to get Alberta to seperate and join the US.

I have a background and education in Communications and Public Relations. Tracey is a public figure. She tries to hide behind her Facebook and X being her private life, while also listing her affiliation with the CCFR and posting about attending events.

She is driving away moderate and centrists with her far right opinions and it is absolutely affecting the CCFR's credibility. They have gone from a non-political group to a group that reposts Rebel News content as gospel.

7

u/WeightedDips95 10d ago

The CCFR isn’t non-political. They campaign for and tell people to vote CPC.

“I have a background and education in Communications and Public Relations”

Yes, I’m well aware in these circles that left wing politics = just being a good person while anything perceived as right leaning = fascism and that you aren’t allowed to publicly hold conservative views. I even was forced to take a communications class in college and my liberal teacher explicitly said that she wouldn’t hire anyone if they had anything vaguely conservative on their personal social media.

This is the double standard I am high-lighting. CBC vs Rebel news too. It offends your sensibility so it’s an issue. If they were reposting CBC or CTV you wouldn’t care( which they also do lmao, constantly in fact).

Gee I wonder why albertan separation is gaining popularity?? It couldn’t be because Liberals have destroyed the country.

AI slop is a completely different issue.

5

u/K0bra_Ka1 10d ago

They used to be non-political. I've been a member almost since 2017.

The reason why Rebel News is an issue is becuase they have publicly stated that their goal is Alberta separating and joining the US. They do not have Canadian interests at heart.

You can not like who your PM is, you can not like things about your country. But when you actively work to destroy your country, you are no longer a patriot.

If she was far left I would have the same criticisms. When you are a public figure you no longer have "private" opinions on social media. Especially when you use that "private" social media to post attending CCFR events.

u/WeightedDips95 10d ago

It’s funny that organizations and companies can be publicly extreme left but individuals aren’t even allowed to have right wing opinions lol

12

u/thecoolernameistaken 11d ago

Facebook going schizo posting boomers are the only reason she’s not gone

10

u/WeightedDips95 11d ago

No, it’s cause she has been instrumental in everything the CCFR does and the only people who complain about her are spiteful leftoids that probably vote LPC anyways.

Like really the ven diagram of people who complain about Tracey and the people who probably go on about how all media in canada is right wing and American owned and would never vote for PP because he is maple maga is a circle.

Zero sense in trying to placate them. Sure if there’s someone who can do the job better than by all means replace her but firing her because people who don’t help us get triggered by her views is useless and counter productive

-6

u/NerdMachine 11d ago

We would have more people who vote Liberal and also enjoy guns if people like Tracey weren't the face of the hobby.

6

u/WeightedDips95 10d ago

Blaming lack of uptake for firearms ownership and presumably the assault on gun ownership by the LPC on Tracey Wilson is an absurd take. Like actually insane.

-11

u/alexorange178 11d ago

Yeah Tracy needs to go

16

u/superfluid 11d ago

I commend what the CCFR is doing but the government has no problem spending untold amounts of our tax-dollars fighting/appealing their own dumbass decisiosn, a luxury we don't have ourselves.

11

u/Lumindan 11d ago

Someone's gotta take the fight to them. Unfortunately there's cost but it is what it is.

2

u/superfluid 11d ago

Totally agree, it just annoys me.

That thumbnail and Sask AI flag is atrocious that is all

u/69___Nice 10d ago

Rod and gang doing God's work here.  But yeah, people gotta realize just because its AI doesnt mean its good.

👍👍👍

u/Millwright-vii 10d ago

Fair? I think the only way to buy a newly prohib firearm is to purchase an existing licensed company… so maybe a million dollars.
What we paid for them? Probably not.
Any formula is likely to include depreciation and only if people had the original receipts.. based on original purchase price not the market as of January 2020.

All that said, well done CCFR, happy to see this. Every bit helps.

2

u/WSBBroker 9d ago

Crazy how only way our shit is getting paid for and be able to be used is if criminals steal them and we claim insurance. The criminals can use them and we get paid.

3

u/PrestigiousStatus711 11d ago

Always appreciate what the CCFR is doing but for me it is not about the money

1

u/LordRaizer 10d ago edited 10d ago

Yeah, I don't like this

I want to protect my property, I don't want an overreaching government confiscating my legally purchased property for a "fair price"

It sounds like controlled opposition conceding to the gun confiscation while calling it a "victory"

Fuck that, I don't know why y'all are cheering for this
