There are some strange people on GunPost.

One GunPost seller spent the entire week chatting with me about anything and everything. He seemed like a lonely guy.

In the end, he canceled last-minute with a lame excuse that the rifle was “defective”.

It’s the seller with the overpriced WWI rifles other guns out of Peterborough.

Nova Scotian, can confirm. I once spent over 5 hours hanging out with an older guy I was buying a .22 from and he let me drive his Imperial LeBaron too lmao

They are very rare… it is a shame really. Wish sako would make them under the valmet name again

Canada was the first to ratify the Finn's request to join NATO, that would be a nice way to say thank you.

I really dont understand they not making more valmets. I`m certain theres a market there

Pretty good chance the government may just prohibit them again maybe? Plus it's such a small market that it's probably not worth it in the first place.

Can't prohibit them without changing the firearms legislation because they're specifically named as non restricted.

I am pretty sure they can get the price down if there is a contract for like 10k of them.

So according to forgotten weapons they are being exported by the Finns again

u/Armedfist 12d ago

Like old one or new production ?

u/tghost474 12d ago

Old stock M series valmet/Sako rifles

2

u/Armedfist 12d ago

Those would be converted from full auto. Sadly will never come into the country.

2

u/tghost474 11d ago

Even the 93S which is a semi auto only model

If you buy this, you don't lose money, you make money.

Cuz you always end up selling it for more than you bought it.

Not if this government randomly bans it the next day, as they love to do with zero warning.

13

u/EnvironmentBright697 12d ago

Will never happen with the Valmets because the government gave them to indigenous peoples for hunting

9

u/StevenMcStevensen al 12d ago

I know that’s why they were originally spared in the 90s, but I somewhat doubt that it’s still the case nowadays.

It’s been 30 years, and those rifles have become stupidly valuable - how many of those things do you think are actually still being used for hunting by the bands? How much pushback would there actually be if those rifles have largely moved on to being range toys by people off the rez?

Same argument is made for the sks but with the recent shooting, anything can happen

Fun fact I learned recently too, some of the treaties with some bands, also required the government to actually supply ammunition to the band as well. They no longer give physical ammunition anymore, but some bands actually still receive a cash payment annually from the gocenrment specifically for ammunition purchasing. Just bizarre.

That theory seems pretty common among people on there who list savage axis/diamondback combos for $1500+.

8

u/MotorBoatinOdin1 12d ago

Lol thats so funny. I saw that the other day

10

u/SwordJabbingAction 12d ago

In 7.62x39 it would sell for $20,000

1

u/sakaykay 12d ago

More, $30,000 now

1

u/rabaful 10d ago

I regret selling mine for $11,000 5 years ago.

5

9

Ain't no gun worth more than a 2016 Honda Civic.

2

u/Sweetchildofmine88 12d ago

Jeez! I bought my 2010 for 4500 in 2018😂😂😂

2

u/BCURANIUM 11d ago

Valmet hunters M 78s were designed in S/A only. I have shot a few M78s. All chambered in 7.62nato and semi only.
