American here with a few questions

I'm not trying to gloat or anything like that, just genuinely curious about Canadians and how they're feeling about guns, gun rights, and gun purchases. You guys were clearly given the shaft when it comes to guns.

Question 1: I see a lot of comments here passing up on $900 SKS's or Carmel's because they're a ripoff. Why not spend a little extra to get your hands on a semi-automatic rifle since the vast majority of them are banned? I feel like I would if I were in your shoes. 22's are just cope imo.

Question 2: how sacred are guns to the average user here?

Question 3: how is morale? Do you guys have hope for the future? If a conservative PM wins, do you think he'll unban a lot of shit?

I dont know what you mean by a majority of semi auto guns are banned and im assuming you dont either. .22s are for plinking and gopher hunting. Our gun culture is practical not a cope.

How sacred are guns? Theyre guns. Theyre things. The guns dont matter the history and cutlture and the sport matters. You americans need to stop pretending your 2nd amendment is anything more than a way for alt right nutjobs to get votes and NRA funding.

Morale? Why do you speak like we're soliders? Morale is low and noncompliance is high. Of course theres hope. Theres a supreme court case coming up and mass non-compliance will prove the OICs and handgun freeze to be a waste of time, money, and political capital.

For the conservative party to win they need a leader thats not complete shit. If PP wins we'd be just a little less fucked than you yanks are right now.

Also the idea of gun rights is really dumb. Saying you need the governments permission to overthrow the government is foolish and redundant.

Your attitude towards gun rights is exactly why Canadian gun owners are in the position they are in. When it is a privilege it will be eroded by the government bit by bit until you are begging to use a bolt action rifle that gets locked up at the range.

Everyday i see more and more opposition to the OICs and the handgun transfer freeze. To the economic loss of billions of dollars. I see less and less ignorance of our gun laws and how these new bans achieve nothing. I refuse to be another pessimist bitching and moaning on this sub.

All we need is a decent conservative politician or to give Carney a wake up call.

I grew up in Canada and spent a good chunk of my adult life in Canada. I understand Canadian gun culture very well. It is you that is out of touch. You really cannot figure out why your "privilege" has been eroded for over 30 years?

What did the last Conservative majority do for firearm owners other than remove the long gun registry? You really think the next will do more? Then what will the next Liberal majority or NDP backed minority do? They will ban them all again (and half of this sub will be voting for it). If the Liberals can't do it via OIC then they will with legislation. Carney getting a wake up call? With Provost as a sitting MP? That is beyond hopeful and bordering on delusional. Carney has had plenty of chances to drop this all and he hasn't.

I was very affected by what happened in Canada. People like you are why I left. You might as well hand in your guns now since you do not have what it takes to keep them for future generations.
