Gun and gear reviews Backland Hunter Pro Comp

Honestly, love the rifle. Put about 100rd through it so far. Writing this actually as im still out, only one minor feed issue on a full mag where it tried to double feed sort of. Rifle shoots very nicely though. No serious accuracy test yet as I was only shooting at about 60yd.

Love the top charging as I've never gotten to own a top charging rifle before.

Action was a bit stiff at first but loosening up quickly. Mags aren't great, but I assume if someone wanted to make the swap to STANAG if would be quite simple by the look of it, although Crusader doesn't recommend it per their words, and it may void warranty so I won't be, just saying it would be easy to modify to fit LARs if you were a bit iinclined.

Love the rifle and Crusader has answered every email I've sent them with question in under 24hr.

Rifle does look a little bit purple in the light, but the photo definitely makes it look worse than it is in person.

Hopefully it stays reliable! I bought it to play around with until the Mk15 shows up, and i don't regret it at all!

I'd say that only 100 rounds at 60 yards is hardly a test of reliability or accuracy and double feeding on a full mag is also a concern. Hopefully it's just a break in period and all goes well, what grouping sizes were you getting.

Yeah Im just putting my first impressions out. The rifles are so new to the market that very few people have even shot one yet, and they did make significant changes from the Elite model. The magazines are very tight (in terms of room inside - and I figure maybe I had the tip of the first/second round hanging out too far forward. You certainly wouldn't be running any extra long heavy grain 223 bullets through these mags.  Also does seem to be a bit overgassed with the factory installed block, but that wouldn't be h ard to fix with an $80 adjustable block if I ever felt the need.

Still got a Mk15 coming too, but this is a fun one to play around with until mine shows up and actually has more AR parts compatibility then both the Carmel and Mk15. I actually really like the look of the rifle as well, more so that the other options.

Groupings were actually pretty damn good despite cheap bulk 5.56. I was just shooting standing with a tripod so not the greatest example, but it grouped better than I was expecting

I tried to post a photo with the post, but it didn't show up for some reason. Been on here for ages but still haven't figured it all out. Very nice looking rifle in all honesty, I love it so far

So I also learned today, Crusader actually offers  a lifetime warranty on the rifle! Fully transferable too. The rifle is a bit overgassed in my opinion, not really an issue, but in my emails back and forth (which they were answering within hours), they informed me about the lifetime warranty which I had no idea about. As much as everyone craps on Crusader, they really seem to be stepping up their service. Count me as surprised based on all the horror stories I had heard.
