News / Politics / Activism Erdogan gives every Nato leader a gun as farewell gift

https://www.telegraph.co.uk/world-news/2026/07/08/erdogan-nato-summit-fun-keir-starmer-donald-trump/

I really hope the PM decides to take this for a spin at the range and decides the Secretary of State for Nature should stick to the Nature lane.

I doubt anything will come from this but it sure would be incredible if all it took was this gifted revolver to change the course of gun legislation in this country.

u/guestpassonly Jul 09 '26

Mr Ferguson would have been happy to have it

4

u/shiddedandfarded69 Jul 09 '26

What a nerd

27

u/LordRevan1996 Jul 09 '26

I second that.

25

u/Foreign_Active_7991 Jul 09 '26

Nah, he's not intelligent or principled enough to be a nerd, hence having to plagiarize his 1995 thesis paper.

He's bitch-made, plain and simple.

Carney plagerised a thesis paper?

9

u/Foreign_Active_7991 Jul 09 '26

Yup, and his doctoral supervisor accepted the paper and still continues to cover for him now despite it being plainly obvious to other academics:

Huh, thanks for that link.

Sad but better than Starmer.

5

u/ADGx27 Jul 09 '26

Odds are it’ll be decommissioned there and donated to the Royal Armouries museum

51

u/rastamasta45 Jul 09 '26

Oh my god what a fucking loser, typical Canadian bullshit, we have to decommission it.

Also it’s not an unusual gift, this is very very common in pretty much every part of the world and throughout history. We will literally have a gift pistol set that was given to Napoleons sister.

But canada has to make it a point to decommission it. Carney is a twat and a loser and barely a man. God I hate what this country has become.

18

u/chasing_daylight Jul 09 '26

Breathe.

Can you imagine the media shitstorm if he simply recieved the pistol as is. Its pretty simple to understand the reason why he had it decommissioned.

-3

u/thecoolernameistaken Jul 09 '26

No one would have made it a shit storm.

14

u/BrightOrdinary4348 Jul 09 '26

You know that’s not true. The Montreal gun lobby would have raked him over the coals. No one in this sub would have made a shit storm.

5

u/thecoolernameistaken Jul 09 '26

Good point i should have said no one people take seriously. It’s not even an uncommon gift for world leaders

6

u/Additional-Monk-6434 Jul 09 '26

Setting aside all other issues, isn't that just a breach of diplomatic etiquette?

4

u/Acceptable_Visit_115 Jul 09 '26

LOL this is so on brand for this government.

1

u/truthdoctor bc Jul 09 '26

It may be sold or given to a museum at least.

53

u/Coriolanus556 Jul 09 '26

Gary will tell him he can’t keep it.

Provost is on the airport tarmac with an RPG.

Thats not how you spell tabarnak

“baguette”

u/milanskiv Jul 09 '26

Can’t wait for Carney to come here and ask about feeding issues

35

u/DwayneGretzky306 Jul 09 '26

At least he'd be using it.

13

u/yummybunnybear Jul 09 '26

Get ready to see his feet

1

u/Motor_Historian2634 Jul 14 '26

He would get grilled to a crisp in this sub

18

u/Armedfist Jul 09 '26

I had no issue with the Turkish beretta 92fs clone and that was a long time ago

7

u/Boetie83 Jul 09 '26

My Turk BHP copy is amazing. 🤩

17

u/Hopeful_Relation_441 Jul 09 '26

Carney - " we need to be more like Europe"

Canadians " Can we have sensible European gun laws like finland and switzerland?"

Carney - "No not like that"

15

u/dfbshaw Jul 09 '26

Are there pictures of the guns?

10

u/567432Gains Jul 09 '26

Revolver means carney has to have it rendered inoperable 😂😂😂

41

u/Johnny-Unitas Jul 09 '26

Too bad it's likely to be decommissioned at best. Fun fact for another leader there is Trump can't legally own a firearm as he's a convicted felon.

6

u/drugstoremechanic Jul 09 '26

Global wiener.

8

u/Whispersfine Jul 09 '26

Maybe he’ll get a new hobby, you never know.

7

u/Prestigious_Ad280 Jul 09 '26

Does Carney have an RPAL? If not he's a criminal the moment he touches down on canadian soil.

3

u/Acceptable_Visit_115 Jul 09 '26

Fun fact: he got it deactivated by the RCMP

Global Affairs Canada said in a statement to reporters travelling with Carney that the gun has been turned over to the RCMP.  " The gift in question was provided to every NATO leader and is being transferred to the possession of the RCMP for decommissioning."

2

u/Prestigious_Ad280 Jul 09 '26

What a way to insult the person giving you the gift 😆

3

u/fartsNdoom Jul 09 '26

They don't need guns, as they have their own police force to protect them from the consequences of their actions.

3

u/Valve-Tech62 Jul 10 '26

Everything else aside, did my ears deceive me or did MC not say (paraphrasing) that “this gun is illegal in Canada”? On its surface that appears to demonstrate ignorance of the law. What am I missing?

2

u/Spyrothedragon9972 Jul 09 '26

That's a wonderful and thoughtful gift. Being a nation leader is a dangerous job. Better stay strapped. They're also timeless and hold their value, generally.

2

u/Canadian-Footy-Fan Jul 09 '26

If he didn’t give it back many of the same people criticizing him now would be criticizing him for hypocritically owning a restricted firearm. We are well past the time where we have intelligent political discussions in this country.

1

u/marston82 Jul 13 '26

He didn't give it back, he took and gave it to the RCMP who will deactivate it and probably put in some museum. Better then Starmer refusing it and leaving it in Turkey lol.

3

u/skelecorn666 Jul 09 '26

It'd break his wrist...

...just holding it.

2

u/CloneFailArmy Jul 09 '26

A good gift from a ally. Shame it couldn’t be used to bolster his personal opinions I do wonder if he is more forgiving to firearms compared to our last goofball and is stick in a hard place right now. The way he talked at least in press briefings I seen so far seems as if he is trying to skirt around choosing a side

4

u/NeruLight Jul 09 '26

Man I pray that little theory is right . The problem I have is he has said some shifty things other times.

0

u/Dartmouth-Hermit Jul 09 '26

"Ally"

5

u/CloneFailArmy Jul 09 '26

They’re in NATO

yes they’re an ally. The only NATO member who isn’t is the yanks

2

u/Dartmouth-Hermit Jul 09 '26

I guess the reason I say that is that they supported Al-Nusra in Syria throughout the 2010s.

1

u/Significant_Step_517 Jul 10 '26

What a bunch of dorks these progressive modern western leaders are

1

u/Grlzzl Jul 14 '26

Im interested in what you guys wanted him to do with it? Im assuming he doesn't have an RPAL.

1

u/DuperCheese Jul 09 '26

lmao no thanks still turkshit

  • it would be hilarious if he ends up here asking for advice cuz it jammed

21

u/DwayneGretzky306 Jul 09 '26

Better for the PM to have 1 gun then 0 gun.
