News / Politics / Activism Erdogan gives every Nato leader a gun as farewell gift

https://www.telegraph.co.uk/world-news/2026/07/08/erdogan-nato-summit-fun-keir-starmer-donald-trump/

I really hope the PM decides to take this for a spin at the range and decides the Secretary of State for Nature should stick to the Nature lane.

I doubt anything will come from this but it sure would be incredible if all it took was this gifted revolver to change the course of gun legislation in this country.

What a nerd

I second that.

Nah, he's not intelligent or principled enough to be a nerd, hence having to plagiarize his 1995 thesis paper.

He's bitch-made, plain and simple.

Carney plagerised a thesis paper?

8

u/Foreign_Active_7991 16d ago

Yup, and his doctoral supervisor accepted the paper and still continues to cover for him now despite it being plainly obvious to other academics:

Huh, thanks for that link.

Sad but better than Starmer.

Odds are it’ll be decommissioned there and donated to the Royal Armouries museum

53

u/rastamasta45 16d ago

Oh my god what a fucking loser, typical Canadian bullshit, we have to decommission it.

Also it’s not an unusual gift, this is very very common in pretty much every part of the world and throughout history. We will literally have a gift pistol set that was given to Napoleons sister.

But canada has to make it a point to decommission it. Carney is a twat and a loser and barely a man. God I hate what this country has become.

Breathe.

Can you imagine the media shitstorm if he simply recieved the pistol as is. Its pretty simple to understand the reason why he had it decommissioned.

u/thecoolernameistaken 16d ago

No one would have made it a shit storm.

14

u/BrightOrdinary4348 16d ago

You know that’s not true. The Montreal gun lobby would have raked him over the coals. No one in this sub would have made a shit storm.

4

u/thecoolernameistaken 16d ago

Good point i should have said no one people take seriously. It’s not even an uncommon gift for world leaders

3

u/Additional-Monk-6434 16d ago

Setting aside all other issues, isn't that just a breach of diplomatic etiquette?

4

u/Acceptable_Visit_115 16d ago

LOL this is so on brand for this government.

1

u/truthdoctor bc 16d ago

It may be sold or given to a museum at least.

53

u/Coriolanus556 16d ago

Gary will tell him he can’t keep it.

Can’t wait for Carney to come here and ask about feeding issues

34

u/DwayneGretzky306 16d ago

At least he'd be using it.

Get ready to see his feet

He would get grilled to a crisp in this sub

I had no issue with the Turkish beretta 92fs clone and that was a long time ago

My Turk BHP copy is amazing. 🤩

Carney - " we need to be more like Europe"

Canadians " Can we have sensible European gun laws like finland and switzerland?"

Carney - "No not like that"

14

u/dfbshaw 16d ago

Are there pictures of the guns?

10

u/567432Gains 16d ago

Revolver means carney has to have it rendered inoperable 😂😂😂

u/Johnny-Unitas 16d ago

Too bad it's likely to be decommissioned at best. Fun fact for another leader there is Trump can't legally own a firearm as he's a convicted felon.

6

u/drugstoremechanic 16d ago

Global wiener.

6

u/Whispersfine 16d ago

Maybe he’ll get a new hobby, you never know.

5

u/Prestigious_Ad280 16d ago

Does Carney have an RPAL? If not he's a criminal the moment he touches down on canadian soil.

3

u/Acceptable_Visit_115 16d ago

Fun fact: he got it deactivated by the RCMP

Global Affairs Canada said in a statement to reporters travelling with Carney that the gun has been turned over to the RCMP.  " The gift in question was provided to every NATO leader and is being transferred to the possession of the RCMP for decommissioning."

2

u/Prestigious_Ad280 15d ago

What a way to insult the person giving you the gift 😆

3

u/fartsNdoom 16d ago

They don't need guns, as they have their own police force to protect them from the consequences of their actions.

3

u/Valve-Tech62 15d ago

Everything else aside, did my ears deceive me or did MC not say (paraphrasing) that “this gun is illegal in Canada”? On its surface that appears to demonstrate ignorance of the law. What am I missing?

2

u/Spyrothedragon9972 16d ago

That's a wonderful and thoughtful gift. Being a nation leader is a dangerous job. Better stay strapped. They're also timeless and hold their value, generally.

2

u/Canadian-Footy-Fan 16d ago

If he didn’t give it back many of the same people criticizing him now would be criticizing him for hypocritically owning a restricted firearm. We are well past the time where we have intelligent political discussions in this country.

1

u/marston82 12d ago

He didn't give it back, he took and gave it to the RCMP who will deactivate it and probably put in some museum. Better then Starmer refusing it and leaving it in Turkey lol.

3

u/skelecorn666 16d ago

It'd break his wrist...

...just holding it.

u/CloneFailArmy 16d ago

A good gift from a ally. Shame it couldn’t be used to bolster his personal opinions I do wonder if he is more forgiving to firearms compared to our last goofball and is stick in a hard place right now. The way he talked at least in press briefings I seen so far seems as if he is trying to skirt around choosing a side

4

u/NeruLight 16d ago

Man I pray that little theory is right . The problem I have is he has said some shifty things other times.

1

u/Dartmouth-Hermit 16d ago

"Ally"

4

u/CloneFailArmy 16d ago

They’re in NATO

yes they’re an ally. The only NATO member who isn’t is the yanks

2

u/Dartmouth-Hermit 16d ago

I guess the reason I say that is that they supported Al-Nusra in Syria throughout the 2010s.

1

u/Significant_Step_517 15d ago

What a bunch of dorks these progressive modern western leaders are

1

u/Grlzzl 11d ago

Im interested in what you guys wanted him to do with it? Im assuming he doesn't have an RPAL.

1

u/DuperCheese 16d ago

What a cool president. One of ours

lmao no thanks still turkshit

  • it would be hilarious if he ends up here asking for advice cuz it jammed

20

u/DwayneGretzky306 16d ago

Better for the PM to have 1 gun then 0 gun.
