Shooting Just casually shooting 125yrds: but with 22lr federal auto match 🫠...

Post image

Vaguely 7moa drop to the target 😅...

And yes, I use moa and not mils 🤷‍♂️.

Apparently that is sacrilegious to other prs rimfire shooters 🫠:

You know it's sacrilegious that I show up to PRS matches with bulk automatch as my ammo lol.

The reason why I made that comment is because the first PRS Rimfire match that I did, I had forgotten my phone so I didn't have my ballistic calculator app. I was kind of having to remember on the Fly for dialing. I said aloud that I had forgotten it to somebody, I mentioned using MOA and automatically I was criticized for using MOA by one of the shooters that was there.

Some people suck, that's with every sport in every country. I've met the same assholes in Rugby, Bowling, Swimming, the list is endless. There's always going to be some snooty booty that believes the hype of whatever it is. I hope you out shot him just as a good ending to the mental story I have going of you sticking it quietly to the man.

I literally I'm not going to joke with you I shared this rifle on a PRS Facebook group with 6K members and this is one of the guys's response I'm not joking after I tried to respond to his original comment:

Chris Hugh Cool story. You came to a PRS group, asking about PRS rimfire matches. I gave you advice to help you succeed in PRS. But it sound like that's not what you wanted.... Hope you have fun!

Original comment this person made to me:

You want subsonic ammo for rimfire. CCI standard is what I consider the minimum acceptable. Eley, SK, Lapua are where it's at. Buy a little of what is available and see what your gun likes. SK Plus (yellow box) and SK Match (red box) is where I would start. Once you find ammo it likes, buy it in bulk.

You will want solid dope out to 250y for most matches.

Get rid of the VFG. It will be useless in PRS. Borrow support bags for your first matches, then buy one you like.

Be careful running your bolt like that. Easy to negligently discharge and be sent home. You don't need to run the bolt like a pissed ape. People time out bc they can't find targets, not bc they aren't running the bolt fast enough.

You're going to want a shorter bipod, preferably on an Arca rail. Harris 6-9", Atlas, or MDT. (NOT a Magpul or knockoff Atlas.) I would highly advise not loading the bipod that much.

MOA scope is going to be a hindrance to performance. MIL will be much more intuitive, faster, and easier to use.

It's a Savage, be prepared for reliability issues. Love the Enfield.

I tried to respond to each point and my personal experience, immediately shot me down with the response at the beginning. I do find having a vertical foregrip very practical, it act as a barricade stop, it acts as an admin point when I'm working with the rifle or carrying it to control it more easily, I dont get that one being useless.

These guys are so snobby sometimes dear lord. I have a conversation with one of my best friends flimed, he is in Georgia USA. He's a former US Army Sergeant he was a mortar Man etc. He was deployed to Iraq, he's a seriously good shooter from conversation. And he even agrees with me about like what's practical or not. He understands my frustration of the sport having a lot of barriers to entry with cost and stuff. I mean I have a clip of him talking about completely smoking a course with an M1 Garand surprising everybody doing so:

I watched a guy smash a beer bottle because I made a spare. In a funsies beer league. I hadn't heard the news that it's his story we're all just NPC's.

Yeah well I'm Dual Sport with doing adult football as offensive line and then also goaltending, my football league has a problem where the behavior of the adults has been such that the city officials won't officiate our games which has jacked up the cost of the league basically.

I don't get it either I'm very reserved usually actively in sports.

I'm checking out a club tonight in person just because I know how bad sports and hobbies can get

Love that barrel/finish combo on the Savage.

It's a factory one, I prefer it as well from e.g. rust standpoint. It's more weather resistant than standard blue or parkerization.

I got the same thing, but with a Kyptek camo. The finish and fluted barrel sold me on it.

Yeah, I had to get new extractors from Savage for mine 🫠. They died and melted, stopped pulling cases out of chamber after firing.

That was the base rifle how I had it originally I slowly change stuff over time with it

I should honestly maybe try and see if I could paint match and maybe paint the optic and optic mount. I'm thinking about doing that also maybe the thread protector. I was thinking of maybe putting on a M16 or M4 style flash hider like an A2. Just for the looks of it but also maybe to protect the crown, also cut down flash a little bit. Some 22LR it can be a bit not as clean burning and I find it a little bit distracting at the muzzle to have flash.

Nice looking rifle, that a mdt chassis on it?

2

u/Other-Scene-2747 17d ago

Yes its the Oryx. I think its best with 29" bi pods in the field like I am using it.

The optic is Diamondback Tactical 4-16x44, UTG Accu-Sync optic mount (this is great line of optic mounts, it was $60 but its incredibly good quality and soild).

A predominant utube content creator said this: " use what ur shooting partners are using. If ur buddy's use MOA, use MOA. If the PRS group ur a part of uses MRAD, use MRAD ". Some sights force u to ultimatly learn both. The Creedmore sight on my Sharps is in inches and that by design favors MOA. My long range gun has a MRAD scope on it haha.

My shooting partner is ballistic calculation apps.

When I was a kid me and my best friend used to practice all day with my dad's old Cooey using iirn sites, took us a bit to dial it in but eventually we were hitting golf balls. All hail the great cooey

Bulk automatch has no business being as good as it is. I got wicked low sd/es when I Chrono them in my bolt gun.

My 1022 is still new and I'm working out the bugs but I'm sure it'll be the same.

Edit: oops this isn't the 1022 sub, oh well

Get those hits and impacts. Nothing wrong with MOA brother.
