Gun and gear reviews Accurate .22LR Ammo?
Felt like testing out different .22LR ammunition and this is what I came out with. Every gun is different but what has been your most consistent .22LR ammunition?

Eley usually makes good stuff. If I'm not super worried about accuracy then force and club are great.
If I want very small holes with tight groups? Tennex if I want to question my financial choices or match/team/bench rest auto

Tenda has some good deals on bulk S&B 40gr Canadian Match, it’s been consistently great across most of the .22s I’ve used it in. Norma Tac 22 and most Eley are great options too

The s&b shoots the best out of my 457. Bonus is it’s the cheapest .22 I can get locally

CCI standard velocity for under 100y plinking, SK Standard for 100-400y plinking, Lapua Midas+ for competitions.

I’ve always been happy with federal for the price point

dude, this sub HATES federal but ive always been happy with the cost and results as well. its a good middle of the pack brand (better than remmington, browning, and winchester for sure).
a couple hundred rounds of blue box champion federal at the range (on sale of course) is fun and reliable for hitting plates. I've never had a misfire/hangfire in the thousands of rounds i've gone through.

I’ve only ever had one light strike but I don’t think it was a ammunition issue I think it was just the firing pin

The Thunderbolts are absolute shit. I have never had so many FTE/FFTs on my 10/22 as with that terrible shit. 333 rounds of misery.

Aguila has always been number one for me when target shooting pistols or rifles

Short of going straight to Lapua, SK Rifle Match is great if you can find it. CCI SV is great for everyday semi-auto plinking too.

i always get the same results you got from aguila but i can't stand the hot piss smell!! i use minimags for most range days but everynow and then i grab a box of aguila just to remind myself why i love it and hate it at the same time.

Aguila standard velocity (subsonic, blue box) was terrible in both my old BRNO 2 and my new CZ 457.
For more expensive ammo the SK/Lapua stuff is the best I have tested. Eley is good too but not quite as good as the SK for the price in my guns.
For cheaper ammo I found S&B Canadian match to be decent. CCI standard was just okay and not that cheap.

Every gun likes something different, but generally subsonic ammo will shoot better. I’ve always found CCI standard velocity to shoot way above its price point.
Beyond that I’ve always had good luck with SK and Eley.

Those groups look like the larger factors are the gun and the shooter. At 25 yards even not-great ammo should be able to get 1-inch groups.

25 yards is hardly a good measure of accuracy. Once had an SKS that was making 1" groups at 25 only for it to be 7moa at 100 yards. I also had a .243 that was 1" at 25 but 3moa at 100.

I’ve had good luck with aguilla. Your groups look about the same as my brand testing. Federal is crap in everything I put it in. I tested some different kids of Eley the other day. Aguilla was actually lower SD over 50 rounds compared to Eley club. I hear Cci standard is good in lots of firearms. But I can’t seem to find it in stock anywhere.
