Shooting 30 Carbine converted Winchester 1905 self loader

For everyone’s enjoyment, as titled this is a Winchester model 1905 that has been converted to 30 Carbine. I have developed some light loads as the factory loading, in my opinion, is unnecessarily “hot” for this gun. I don’t know anything about the conversion but the barrel has no Winchester roll marks, only has a Winchester proof mark and a
30. US stamp on the side of it. No other identifiers even when taken apart. Timeline wise, rifle was made in 1906 and the 30 carbine cartridge came out in 1940. So my guess someone in the 50’s got it re-barrelled as I’m sure the original chambering of 35 WSL was probably not made anymore so leads to this. Neat rifle and video for slo motion of the blowback action. Cycled many different hand loads but there was a nice low recoil load that I’m gonna stick with. Just need to find more mags and I’d be set lol.

Neat! Also the .30 carbine's parent case was .32WSL, which was the one of the original cartridges for the Winchester 1905. So this brings it full circle.

Originally 35 WSL. Less powerful than 351. But if you have either the 32, 35 or 351 model I believe this conversion would work for any of them. Just maybe don’t run full factory loaded 30 carbine in an originally 32 WSL gun. Much higher pressure. 35 and 351 guns would be fine.

It would be cool if this was legal today

Re chambering isn’t legal? It’s a non restricted rifle. Not sure where the illegality would be. I don’t think anything is stopping anyone from doing this

That looks like a ton of fun to shoot, reminds me of my Ruger M44. I wonder if they had to make any modifications to the magazine when they did the conversion..

Awesome find, enjoy the hell outta that thing!

Just about any load is unnecessarily hot when all you're shooting is paper.
