Recurring Canadaguns Politics and Debate Thread

Please post all your Gun Politics or Ban-related ideas, questions, initiatives, comments, suggestions, news articles, and recommendations in this thread. This thread recurs every 14 days.

First and foremost, this is a Canadian Gun subreddit, so keep it at least decently related to both of those things.

This thread is not for general politics, there are plenty other subs that are meant for that. Off-topic threads may be removed, especially if they are leading to personal attacks, flame wars, etc.

To prevent the main sub being flooded with dozens of similar threads, text posts complaining about/asking about/chatting about gun politics will be sent here.

We understand that politics is a touchy subject, and at times things can get heated. A reminder of the subreddit rules, when commenting, where subreddit users are expected to abide.

Keep this Canadian gun politics related and polite. Off-topic stuff, flame wars, negative generalizations against groups, personal attacks and gate-keeping will be removed. Please flag any comments to bring to the attention of mods otherwise exercise your upvoting and downvoting ability.

Have we had an update on confiscation numbers recently? Seems like news has been awfully quiet, guessing it's because it doesn't make them look good.

Where did you get this update? I’m curious where in Ontario they started and with what police force?

I got the update because they delivered the collection boxes to my door. I know that I will get flamed for turning them in but it was a logical decision for my situation. If anyone would like to dispute this, they are welcome to send me several tens of thousands of dollars and I'll gladly withdraw. It's quite sad for me since a few of them are unfired (delivered on tues. banned on thurs.), and my dream gun which I invested a lot in will be destroyed.

There is a lot of chest thumping in this sub but the reality is, a lot of guys with 20, 30+ restricted are not going to take the loss. There are some hardliners for sure but the more you have, the more compelling it becomes to turn them in

You put the guns in boxes that they ship to you via Canada Post then drive to a local RCMP office (did not know we had these in the GTA) and turn it in

what does my post history have to do with my comment? would it make you feel better if you were able to stalk my history for some gotcha?

Just noticing a trend that the people posting that they turned in their firearms also happen to have a hidden post history

Not ruling out the possibility they're larping as gun owners, probably to either ragebait or psyop other people into turning in their firearms as well

How could people be psyoped into turning in their firearms if the period to declare for compensation ended months ago? There's no point now in turning them in until the very end since you won't get any money for them

Showing support for compliance scares folks into thinking this is how things are supposed to be moving.

Mass non compliance is the only correct way forward.

That's a great platitude - I'll happily withdraw my claim if you want to spot me the money that you're suggesting I should leave on the table.

The irony of you bringing up platitudes when you're claiming money off the backs of others.

Withdraw your claim because you have principals. It's not about a quick pay day.

You are supporting the death of firearms ownership. Don't try to beat around the bush now.

No platitudes on my end. I'm getting cash for my guns. The death of firearms ownership happened with the last election and was cemented by the unelected majority. Interestingly no one with such strong principals has stepped up to buy out my claim. They sure do love telling me what I should do though

Go ahead. It's your property. Sure you had to submit to their program and feed them exactly what they wanted to make things worse for everyone else, but hey, at least you got a pay day.

That's the sad part, every person who didn't comply is paying for your sad choice.

You're just fishing for justification. You'll find none here.

You wanted a quick pay day. You got one.

Enjoy your 30 pieces of silver.
