Recurring Canadaguns Politics and Debate Thread

Please post all your Gun Politics or Ban-related ideas, questions, initiatives, comments, suggestions, news articles, and recommendations in this thread. This thread recurs every 14 days.

First and foremost, this is a Canadian Gun subreddit, so keep it at least decently related to both of those things.

This thread is not for general politics, there are plenty other subs that are meant for that. Off-topic threads may be removed, especially if they are leading to personal attacks, flame wars, etc.

To prevent the main sub being flooded with dozens of similar threads, text posts complaining about/asking about/chatting about gun politics will be sent here.

We understand that politics is a touchy subject, and at times things can get heated. A reminder of the subreddit rules, when commenting, where subreddit users are expected to abide.

Keep this Canadian gun politics related and polite. Off-topic stuff, flame wars, negative generalizations against groups, personal attacks and gate-keeping will be removed. Please flag any comments to bring to the attention of mods otherwise exercise your upvoting and downvoting ability.

Yea there full… Because they kept increasing the population and refused to built any new prisons as doing that is often seen as very unpopular until crime gets so bad it’s seen as necessary. But they don’t want to actually fix the root causes issues of why people turn to crime in the first place. Because that’s hard. Easier to do the worst thing possible and blame PAL holders who are a comically safe demographic.

You said it.

Building prisons is not a popular use of tax dollars as far as the general public is concerned, and nobody wants one built anywhere near them.

However, people need to realize that this issue is a huge reason as to why violent offenders are arrested and the legal system tries everything it can to get them out again. We’re full.

Legal systems, healthcare systems and institutions are strained to their limit. All of this money being spent to ban guns should have been spent on any one of these things but no, my kingdom for a gun ban.

This is also one of the reasons why the bans are largely unenforceable. We can’t even keep up with the regular criminals, let alone trying to push hundreds of thousands of people through the court system.

This is why I think the Attorney Generals from three provinces got involved. The provinces will absorb all of the judicial wreckage precipitated from this policy while Ottawa is off in dreamland.

One of the biggest complaints about this policy aside from our personal grievances is that it was very poorly planned out and it shows. They wrote cheques that reality can’t cash.

This is what happens when you recruit the support of fringe special interest groups comprised solely of activists. Then you wonder why everything seems to be going to shit.
