Recurring Canadaguns Politics and Debate Thread

Please post all your Gun Politics or Ban-related ideas, questions, initiatives, comments, suggestions, news articles, and recommendations in this thread. This thread recurs every 14 days.

First and foremost, this is a Canadian Gun subreddit, so keep it at least decently related to both of those things.

This thread is not for general politics, there are plenty other subs that are meant for that. Off-topic threads may be removed, especially if they are leading to personal attacks, flame wars, etc.

To prevent the main sub being flooded with dozens of similar threads, text posts complaining about/asking about/chatting about gun politics will be sent here.

We understand that politics is a touchy subject, and at times things can get heated. A reminder of the subreddit rules, when commenting, where subreddit users are expected to abide.

Keep this Canadian gun politics related and polite. Off-topic stuff, flame wars, negative generalizations against groups, personal attacks and gate-keeping will be removed. Please flag any comments to bring to the attention of mods otherwise exercise your upvoting and downvoting ability.

Imagine a world where the sks is banned, but the mk15 hits the market a few months later (i know both will most likely be banned at one point or another). Adding the sks to the ban will be the final nail in the coffin with all the fuds and natives joining the cause (giving natives special status will pass a ton of people off big time).

Also it would create even more tension of “So these guns are so dangerous but a entire groups of people can have them why?”

Another excellent point. I think there smart enough to realize banning the sks gives them more problems than wins

That's the only thing they could do really. Even trying to track them all down the register them sounds like hell

You would have to register to have a effective grandfather system or the amount of people just handing over there sks to somebody else who could have gotten it in the time period would be a non negligible number. Like if I was the government I would avoid the sks for as long as humanly possibly. So much so I would literally ban more random .22 lrs then the sks. That’s how much the sks is in terms of not wanting to touch it.
