Yeah that sucks, but you can buy a bunch of other guns though. In due time common sense will get back in power, and fix our ancient, mangled, firearms legislation. At least you don't do 5 years in prison for ripping a couple bongs at a party though.

I don't smoke so not an issue for me. I really do hope Canada can correct the firearms legislation but the odds of a conservative majority are low. If you think the Liberals or NDP will ever help then I don't even know what to say. There are people on this post who voted NDP, the party that helped pass C21. They voted to have firearm restrictions increased. Can't even get firearm owners to vote conservative...

Yeah, it would help if our current conservative party wasn't useless. I wouldn't vote liberal or NDP, but I shouldn't have to hold my nose to vote conservative either. We need a new Steven Harper. Someone that actually has a plan, that makes sense. Poilievre is like a bitchy Milhouse. And he never really has any solid plans to back up his ideas. The rest of the party isn't bringing in any new voters either..

Anyways. My point was, you can't really compare which of the two countries are more free. 2.4 million people out of 44 million are upset that they can't buy an AR anymore. I bet there's at least 100 million pot smokers in America. And depending on where they live, something as simple as a joint in a bag could get them tossed into their private, for profit prison system. Also, there are states that have strict gun laws too, with banned models, and magazine limits etc. Theirs are regulated at a state level where ours are regulated at a federal level.

Neither country is a beacon of hope and freedom right now. Both countries are a shell of their former selves. And in America's case, the pot thing has been that way for around a century..

I believe that eventually conservatives will regain power, or that the gun grabbing maniacs in the government now, will age out of their positions, and be replaced with a generation of people with common sense about firearms, and public safety. It can't go this way forever. The pendulum will swing back. Look at Argentina. For 30 years semi autos were banned across the board. Then a new generation came into power and said "that's dumb". And the ban was lifted..
