Feets / Collection / My build Cerakoted M70

Planning on keeping this rifle in the family for generations so I got it cerakoted, turned out pretty nice I think. It’s in .30-06 with a Vortex Razor LHT 2-15x42

I've got a Portuguese made stainless model Featherweight in 6.5 Creedmoor that I put a Timney trigger in to reduce the pull weight. It wasn't cheap, but it reduced the weight of the trigger pull significantly. It's now comparable to a Tikka with an aftermarket trigger spring installed. I topped it with a Swarovski Z3 3-10x42. It's one of my favorite rifles but I'm gonna get a few inches chopped off the barrel as 19"-20" is my preferred length.

Tbh I don't think M70's are the most practical rifles for most people in this day and age. Especially if, while hunting, you are in and out of any motorized vehicle often. That's just due to the fact that they aren't easy to load and unload quickly due to the lack of a detachable magazine.

That being said, if that particular issue isn't a problem for you, they are absolutely great rifles. Mine is as accurate as my Tikka's and handles just as well.

You did well with your rifle and cartridge choice OP. A great rifle to use and pass down as the years go by.

I might need to look into a new trigger… I hunt off of an ATV sometimes but otherwise the lack of a DBM hasn’t been a problem. At my age it’s more about the experience as a whole and hunting with this rifle makes things enjoyable. Compared to a modern mountain rifle she’s a bit heavy and you notice it when carrying all day, but I have friends who hunt with 16 lb sniper rifles so I’m still doing alright lol.

You can also get a reduced power trigger spring and install that to Lowe the weight. Much cheaper than replacing the whole trigger assembly but more limited on exactly how light it’s set to.

where did you have the work done? did they just clear coat everything?

I had it done locally to me in Alberta; there is no clearcoat on anything except what was applied to the stock at the factory.
