I don’t think a lever could ever be classified as cope. I’d take a lever over semi almost any day if it was good enough to win the west it’s good enough to keep it. One day I’ll pick up a supreme. The rdsc ones that come kitted out with custom barrels and rp furniture are pretty cool not sure I wanna spend that much all at once though! All though one chambered in 7.62x39 might be fun to have!

I have a Marlin 1894 dark series carbine in 357/38 Sp and it is a joy. I never really wanted anything but a lever so cope doesn't even enter into the equation.

I think it’s only cope if it was made to satisfy a particular category that is unable to be satisfied due to restrictions. Lever guns are its own category separate from the semi autos

nah man that’s definitely cope. that said levers are nice but saying you’ll take em over a semi is the biggest cope. Tubefed levers are not really cope guns, but box mag fed levers especially the new ones that take AR mags are definitely copeguns

My 270 BLR is mag fed cause spritzer rounds and tubes don’t mix. No cope involved. It’s badass, fun to cycle and tough as hell.

Levers are fun and reliable. But saying they're a replacment for a semi is nuts. Harder to shoot prone, and I dont care how fast you work the action a semi is faster. Most importantly practically speaking. under extreme stress, such as a predator defense scenario, half stroking the action is very easy to do which can cause a malfunction.

This is all assuming you're running a mag fed lever action. A tube fed lever action presents several other problems. Cannot use spitzer rounds so you're stuck with objectively inferior (usually straight walled) cartridges, and reloading is probably slower and more cubersome than any other internal or external magazine.

Didn’t say they were a replacement just prefer to shoot them over semi. Semis are fun I’ve got lots but manually racking the action is much more satisfying. Slow is smooth. Smooth is fast. I’d bet you prefer to drive automatic too 😂

Lever actions became iconic in the American West because they were useful frontier tools, not wonder weapons. They were used by pretty much everyone because capacity + ease of use compared to single shot options (a follow up is huge)

Historically, a lot of major military forces of the era still preferred bolt action or single shot service rifles because they were cheaper, simpler, and easier to supply at scale. But when you're alone on a newly settled plot of land, having more than one shot goes a long way.

tldr; Lever guns were popular because they were practical, not because they steamrolled armies.

Even pre-bans I could see this having a place in the market. 223 lever action from a trusted manufacturer. I don’t personally have a purpose for it, but sometimes you get stuff because it’s fun. It’s also practical for a lot of people, I’m sure.

Have you ever shot one? They are arguably just as fun to shoot as a semi, especially with our cucked mag limits. Not as fun to reload with a tube magazine, but with box mags it'd be a blast. I shoot my 44mag more than my SKS it's way more fun for me to cowboy thru 10rds vs 5.

Fastest possible manual repeater. Bolts are slow and require you hold the gun in stupid ways to run them fast, and pumps inherently push you off target.

It still beats up your hands but it's the fastest thing you have.
