Gun and gear reviews 600 round review tm22 pro 16”

Got around 600 rounds through this 16 pro now so i figured it was time to talk about it. I was skeptical of picking one up with reviews usually 50/50 I figured the 10/22 or 597 have never let me down do I really need this? Well I’m glad I picked it up! -As far as failures I t’s had one light strike and one stove pipe out of 600 rounds of federal automatch. Accuracy is great from what I can tell. Ive only put it on paper to sight it in when it was fresh with a bushnell trs-25 red dot. I just tossed this 1-4 jackhowl lpvo on tonight so here’s to hoping it works fine too. As far as accessories the rail on the hand guard, the reverse faux suppressor and charging handle are my own design. Files can be found on cults3d. The mag is also available from another designer this one is 15 rounds (10/15/25 avail) and works flawlessly if you can find the right springs. Over all the rifle is fun to shoot feels nice has good weight and seems to hit what ever you aim at. I’m able to put it on 6” steel at 100 yards everytime and most of the time 4” steel at 100. I’m hoping with a bit crisper view and the option to zoom with an lpvo the 4” should impact everytime now too. Any questions ask and get out there and do some plinking!

That front top rail is a nice touch

Thanks! It’s a shame they didn’t come that way!

Watch out for those failures to eject. My Tm22 had both of its extractors broken (separate failures after hundreds of rounds apart), that I attributed to the few eject failures it had.

The fte was somewhere in the first 200 rounds and actually had the next round in the chamber just half pulled handle and let er eat the rest. the light strike was in the last 100 and worked flawlessly after words. I may pick up a couple extractors to have in the parts bin though

S_m_hermsen on cults3d I modified the 15 to take a slightly larger spring as I could not find one in Canada that was the size he made it for

ty ty! did you use the default tm22 spring or did u choose a different one?

They use a round spring instead of the factory box spring I picked some up off Ali express 10mm x130mm x.6

Could you drop a link to the aliexpress springs? I'm looking to do the same but debating if it makes sense to undersize the springs instead. I see some 150mmL x 9mmOD x 0.8mm wire diameter springs for example

I just found this on AliExpress: | Spring Steel Pressure Spring Return Spring Wire Diameter 0.6mm0.7mm0.8mm Outer Diameter 3mm-18mm Long Spring100mm-300mm

https://a.aliexpress.com/_mtMRhL5
I did the .06 x10x150 but I modified the file enlarged the hole slightly a 9mm may work

Do you find the models prefer to run a bit better on the "dry" side of the oil scale? I've been having a hard time finding that happy medium

I find mine runs just fine fairly wet I clean them every couple hundred as well at least the turkeys the 10/22 and 597 get clean if they cause issues which is pretty much never lol

Yeah i can usually get 2 or 3 trips out of the Derya before its gotta get cleaned out, ill go through around 400rds per trip so it gets pretty nasty, gonna try a bit less oil and see if that helps

I’m just a noob but imo tm-22 can’t run well totally dry like a 10/22 . I cleaned mine bone dry and had the worst start of any .22 I’ve owned lol it’s like the tolerances are tight so the bolt really has friction in the receiver

Yeah ive heard that. Guess ill just keep trying a bit less each time haha

I had some issues with light strikes/ejection with mine as well. Try out S&B Canadian Match - also cheap ammo, but runs much better - I’ve went through ~1000 rounds with my 12” pro with no stoppages

I was having some major light strike issues in my tm22 lever after 400 rounds and couldn’t quite figure it out. Turns out the firing pin must have got some oil or had some factory lube in it and was gummed up felt fine by hand to move but cleaned it out half ass and it got better while I was out. When I got home I brake cleaned and blew it out. So hopefully resolved the problem now will have to test next time I’m out with it. These derya are 2 of my favorite rifles

I’ve got 5k rounds of fed to chew through first but if the s&b come up next time I’m buying will try some. I like their 12guage target loads have higher brass seam to cycle well in the turkey guns

I hate to say it, but this is some clean cope. I love it.

Thanks! Is it still cope if 22 are my preferred plinker? lol I’m a cheap ass

Great build! Love the custom magazine. The straight design suits this rifle so much better. How do they cycle?

Yeah the straighter mag looks way better. I kinda like the mag sleeves but also don’t like playing pretend caliber size it’s a 22 it has a 22 mag not a 5.56 mag lol

2

u/NoGrapefruit1213 29d ago

They cycle perfectly in both this and the lever action

I’m on a hunt for the pro

Good luck I got mine a few months ago and it was the last one at foc im sure they’ll restock soon everywhere. I’m waiting on the new dypa 9mm

1

u/scottsuplol 29d ago

Yeah the amount of waitlist I’m on for firearms is insane. Got about 12 in waiting for

The country has a new record of pal holders so it’s to be expected and I’d bet a lot of stuf if it’s brand new or scary dealers probably don’t want to stock a lot of them for fear of not being able to sell it

16 or 18? Color? My local has a few 16s. Not eta on 18 with full handguard supplier shows no stock.

How do you like the CVLife LPVO. I got their dot/magnifier combo and have been really happy with it

u/NoGrapefruit1213 29d ago

I haven’t been out with it yet. But from what I can tell it’s very nice! On brighter settings it really lights up the outside edge of the tube though depending how you look through it it shouldn’t be a problem I honestly will likely rarely need to have it turned on anyways. I have a pusina 1.5-8 on my lever 22 and really like it aswell other than its in mil and not mos like everything else I run I may swap it out for a cv 1-6 we’ll see how this one is!

Aha right on. Give a shout back once you've tried it out!

"works flawlessly if you can find the right springs." wut?

also why do a review after 1 box of 22?

1

u/NoGrapefruit1213 27d ago

For the 3d printed mag it’s a weird size so if you can find the right spring it works fine. lol

Where did you get that top rail?
