I almost threw my fucking phone at the wall when I saw her practically execute that guy who looked nothing like the individual she was supposed to be dealing with.

So tired of the RCMP’s improper handling of firearms.

No target acquisition, she just shot whatever moved. People were blaming him for being near her but it looked like he didn’t have much of an option

Too easy to be a cop nowadays, I don’t know about other provinces but it’s a fucking joke here in Quebec. Your average high schooler can fuck around for a summer and get mediocrely fit after graduation, join a fast track “intensive” program and be on the force in 2 years time. It’s easier than becoming a plumber ffs

Not sure how many rounds the police in Montreal get per year. But near me there is a range the RCMP use once a year, it’s fun to go collect their brass and look at their targets… they shoot so bad it isn’t even funny, sometimes we just reuse their targets.

Good thing the government decided police weren’t responsible enough outside the uniform to train to be competent on their own time.

SPVM is the police of jurisdiction in Montreal my dude. They were the responding agency.

But keep on telling me who I am, what I know. I'm not sure I have ever encountered anyone so confident in their ignorance before. I'm actually impressed.

An innocent bystander who was in the immediate vicinity of an active shooter and was wearing similar clothing. It's a shit sandwich, but also not inconceivable that a tragic mistake like this could happen.

Pretending you are a use of force expert, who has any credibility when it comes to an active shooter situation, is wild when you are immediately exposed as having zero credibility at all. I should know better than to expect an adult conversation when it comes to things like this but here I am, pushing that rock up the hill.

Maybe you have a problem with a woman being a police officer. I have zero concerns about her gender or skin colour. Being an armchair quarterback is easy. If you can do better prove it. Plenty of agencies are hiring.

I was going to say it's a 1:1 ratio of people merced by the gunman to innocent people merced by officers in this altercation.

Also don't question why officers shot at a fire hall where civilians were taking shelter during the Nova Scotia event 6 years ago

My first impulse was to blame police incompetence or indifference to bystanders in the line of fire, but based on the one clip I've seen the officer simply cannot reasonably be blamed for the death of that innocent bystander; she was already hit, hunkered in cover, and then that guy was suddenly standing beside her - LOOMING over her.

I'm very sad for the guy and his family, but God only knows what he was thinking when he decided to move towards the sounds of gunfire. Again, I'm not happy at all about what happened and my heart for out to his family, but real he essentially killed himself through stupidity.

Anybody who's played tactical FPS games knows exactly how easily friendly fire occurs when you get surprised in the middle of tense situations.

There's no excuse for this. The police have training. At least that's what we're told when people say only the police should be trusted with firearms.

💯 Everybody playing devils advocate is missing this point. Groups will take this tragedy and use it to suggest private citizens are dangerous with guns and that only police should have them, but time and time again we see that that opinion doesn't have a fuckin leg to stand on.
