Jeez just saw the video on Instagram. Looks like the cop blasted some old dude with glasses too. Tragedy

He walked upto an active shooting situation as if to complain about the noise.

If you've seen the footage you really can't blame the cop, the way that bystander was acting was inexplicable.

I will absolutely blame the cop.

Cops, like soldiers, are supposed to be trained in situational awareness and target ID specifically under fire so that they don't light up an innocent person in the area. Instead, cops are basically just glorified parking ticket attendants with a gun and a badge and zero ability to engage threats in coherent/competent manner. Look at the NS shooting fiasco. Cops are here to make sure you pay your taxes and occasionally try to solve a murder after the fact, they're not protection and sometimes they'll just kill you.

her partner had just got shot in what looks like the neck, bled out and died. she turns and looks to where she expects the shooter to be coming from, and sees a man literally with in distance to touch her, she shoots that guy. who turned out to be innocent, she then has her position assaulted by the shooter from the exact same spot and gets shot.

you can blame her if you want, I won't.

she basically was in probably one of the most challenging situations any cop has ever been in Canadian history.

Cops are not soldiers.

Cops are civilians.

Cops do not fight gun fights the way soldiers do.

Even ERT operators do not act like soldiers do.

I'm not interested in arguing against your extremist anti cop bullshit.

If you can't understand that somebody who fires their service weapone once a year isn't prepared for a situation this extreme and can't moderate your expectations to what a reasonable person would do in a situation this stressful, all I can say is I hope you never end up in front a judge with your attitude for a self defense case.

Right, they're cops. They're supposed to protect and uphold the peace and keep citizens safe. This is why they have guns. If you are empowered with being armed with a gun in public (the only people allowed to be in Canada) then you need to not be an incompetent moron using like killing an innocent person.

Yeah that's the point. If you only fire your service weapon once a year you are not properly trained to have one, and therefor shouldn't. And here we get to see what happens when some idiot is allowed to have a gun who shouldn't, she shoots an innocent person.
