Feets / Collection / My build Cooey model 600 restoration

Just wanted to share this restoration i did on a cooey 600 i got off a buddy that he got from an auction many years ago. Someone decided to spray paint the whole gun before i got it. This is my first time doing anything like this and im very happy how it turned out.

Wow that looks great. Crazy how different the wood is on mine vs yours. I redid my grandpa's cooey 600 that was probably never cleaned and ended up with this. Gorgeous little guns with a terrible trigger! I may have to come to you for some bluing tips.

That also looks amazing and its probably the same wood i just didn’t stain mine i wanted the raw wood look. And i just used this bluing kit i found it worked okay enough. I wasnt looking for a brand new finish just wanted to remove surface rust and bring back the colour so this worked really well for me. And it was really easy to do. I applied about 6 coats

Oh okay I looked at doing this but read so many horror stories that I went with rust bluing. It turned out okay, but is streaky in parts. It also took me a month...

And believe it or not, this is no stain. Sanded it down to raw wood and used Birchwood Casey tru Oil. That's it! This is before the first coat. Mine had all sorts of rust and gummed up marks on the stock. I left all the dings and chips as a reminder of where it came from

I have a vortex 4-12 on there now and shot a 3 inch group at 100 yards the other day with random 22. Not too bad for an old fella (the gun).

Planning on shooting yours much? Or keeping to admire?
