Oh no. Oh geeze. They are going to report you to the police that already told the feds no, lmao.

About time someone said this. Most Municipal Police Services don't have the time to confiscate firearms from PAL/RPAL holders. It would be a logistical nightmare. You would need Fire, EMS, and a Tactical Team for each confiscation. You would also traffic and access control.

need Fire, EMS, and a Tactical Team for each confiscation

RIP Rodger Kotanko

Is that the gunsmith that the RCMP shot dead a while back, after kicking in his door while he was working on a customerz legal firearm in his garage - as he was legally entitled to do? Pretty horrific story, don't recall when it happened but I was horrified by it when I stumbled across the story a few months ago.

4

u/Agent_1812 https://youtu.be/mrAwb9ptu9U Jun 23 '26

yep, Toronto police travelled 100km out of jurisdiction to do this

3

u/HappyCan7250 Jun 24 '26

I honestly can't belive no officers were charged for it. If I remember right, there wasn't even any clear reason for the search, and they were very tight lipped about the whole incident, just swept under the rug.

The guy was a pretty popular and famous gunsmith. If I remember right, he even did some work for some of the local cops?

Gunned the guy down and then treated his wife like garbage after killing her husband too if I remember right. Its honestly baffling that there was no repercussions for anyone.

Offers a sort of scary window into how bad and scary this confiscation plan could go if they try to go door to door for the holdouts

47

u/LongRoadNorth Jun 19 '26

I don't think people realize how afraid the police would be to come door to door knowing they have a gun, and how unhappy The owners are.

They would not be coming politely.

For fuck sakes just calling for info about disposal of bad ammo made me feel like I was about to have a SWAT team at my door.

22

u/NIBLZ_HAMSTR Jun 20 '26

Id be fucking terrified... id straight up refuse. Im a fireman.. no stranger to risky situations... maybe most people might even just begrudgingly hand them over but there's that type of guy out there who absolutely loves his possessions and hes decided that if he cant have them, no one can... bad day. Bad... bad day.

u/Sco0basTeVen Jun 19 '26

Two mounted RCMP officers went around FSRs in Mission, BC recently and confiscated multiple firearms from multiple people shooting illegally in no shooting zones.
They approached people with loaded firearms who were actively discharging them.

Calm down

29

u/Lumindan Jun 20 '26

That's very different then going door to door. I know which article you're mentioning because it made it into this sub before it got locked.

The police very much do not want to go knocking.

I'm not saying it's warranted though?

I'm saying if the police do, do it. They will not be doing it nicely. They will 100% be coming in an aggressive way and I wouldn't even be surprised if they had guns drawn

12

u/DFA_Wildcat Jun 19 '26

13 seconds after the first confiscation word would get out.

1

u/TyrannasaurusRecht Jun 25 '26

It isnt that they'll apply it broadly. It will just be used as a tool for targeted silencing of dissent.

Make enough things illegal randomly and you can arrest anyone at anytime and paint them with the label criminal and immediately remove their rights and freedoms.

All governments are actively eroding freedom at this point without exception. Which begs the question, why are they expecting strong resistance requiring these tools to silence citizens? I can't wait to find out!

-3

u/Sco0basTeVen Jun 19 '26

So when the little ASFC van comes city to city they are going to set up tactical, fire, EMS and shut lanes of traffic down for it?

No

16

u/Apologetic-Moose Jun 19 '26

We're talking about door to door forcible confiscations without compensation, not the ASFC program.

If the LPC is reporting people commiting what is fundamentally an indictable offence that the law considers equivalent to assault with a weapon (10yr max sentence), and the police know that

A) you're likely at home (i.e. potential barricade and home turf advantage), and

B) you have a prohibited firearm, are not in compliance with the law, and might potentially be prepared for a raid

The "safest" response from the perspective of police, aside from just fucking off, would absolutely be deploying an ERT/SWAT/tac unit.

1

u/Office_Responsible Jun 20 '26

You do realize that for these types of arrests they just wait until you aren’t home. They arrest you on the way to work or some shit, then they get a search warrant for your home and take everything. You aren’t in the picture anymore so the situation is safer for them now. An arrest was done near me just like that for a guy accused of shooting up his in laws place, was done a rural road with no one else around

13

u/IGnuGnat Jun 20 '26

You mean, like they did to Rodger Kotanko?

2

u/NIBLZ_HAMSTR Jun 20 '26

Yeah.... ive always wondered what actually happened there. Was it like they reported? Or what the story embellished?

Cool. Don't forget if you don't refuse, fuck you a thousand times.

2

u/JoeJitsu86 Jun 21 '26

Lost all faith in cops how they treated the trucker protesters. Y’all just gonna do what ya need to pay your bills. Just like all the sackless losers cops who were forced to take a vaccine to keep their jobs and then were crying for support from the citizens after they were enforcing the bullshit Covid laws.

2

u/Braddock54 Jun 21 '26

I agree completely. I'm not one of those type of people. It was disgusting.

1

u/Blargston1947 Jun 20 '26

They won't be using average cops to do these raids, it'll be outsourced paramilitary like those who were flown in to deal with the convoy.

3

u/HatchingCougar Jun 20 '26

The convoy police enforcement was still done by CDN police (yes, flow in)

That leaves the problem for the govt that they are CDN police. As for the ERT teams, there is only so many & they can be tied up doing this for years on end.   The scale of the problem the Liberals have created pretty much negates this as a practicable option beyond some high profile “example” demonstrations

If outside actors are brought in to the country, once word gets out - things will instantly become way worse for the govt.   people are resentful enough as is - but outside / foreign “paramilitary”?!  A lot of triggers will get pulled

2

u/OniDelta al Jun 21 '26

Most dudes on an ERT team are also firearms enthusiasts. I would be very surprised if people showed up to work if they knew they were being used to do this. It's one thing to kick a scumbag's door in, it's completely different to do that to a regular PAL holding citizen.

1

u/Blargston1947 Jun 20 '26

They people they fly in will wear our colors, but they will not be our military, or policy enforcers.

1

u/HatchingCougar Jun 20 '26

It won’t matter once word spreads on who they actually are.

For more than a few, things will kick off

146

u/Cager_CA Jun 19 '26

Imagine posting an article I have to pay money to read lmao

26

u/Brapika Jun 19 '26

Low key just flexing on the poors who can't just spend frivolously.

46

u/Cager_CA Jun 19 '26

Paying for media in 2026 is wild

14

u/Brapika Jun 19 '26

You don't have to pay for anything. You just type boobies into Google and you get 147 million hits.

12

u/milanskiv Jun 19 '26 edited Jun 20 '26

When the product is free - you are the product. This guy spends a lot of time and money writing for a fairly small community.

-2

u/EnvironmentBright697 Jun 20 '26

Thegunblog is worth supporting

1

u/Jurple-shirt Jun 20 '26

Why would I pay to read an article saying the government will use the police to uphold the law?

In what world is that worth supporting?

1

u/ProfessorOfPain Jun 21 '26

I, for one, agree with paying for news. What a subreddit this that that you get downvoted for suggesting that a guy gets paid for doing work.

69

u/leaf_shift_post_2 Jun 19 '26

Well pretty sure I’m allowed to cut up my oic prohibs that were restricted so if we lose, in day 59 post scc I’ll cut them up and send an email.

51

u/rastamasta45 Jun 19 '26

Correct, we have the right to self destroy and email, nothing more

12

u/Flintly Jun 19 '26

Didn't they revoke the self destroy or was that just a rumor

28

u/rastamasta45 Jun 19 '26

No that was rumour and probably spread by me by accident, I had a call with the rcmp and they said you can’t and then I pressed them and confirmed with a lawyer you can’t, they’re just trying to discourage us from doing so. They know what’s coming

7

u/WearifulSole Jun 19 '26

What sort of proof do they require if we choose to destroy them ourselves?

20

u/Reasonable_Hall2346 Jun 19 '26 edited Jun 19 '26

No proof. You tell them your firearm with the serial number and that its been destroyed. Obviously the firearm needs to be destroyed as it would be illegal to lie.

Edit: you only need to destroy the serialized components. Most likely just the lower and/or upper (if AR), everything else that can be stripped off should probably be taken off before destruction.

3

u/EliteDuck Jun 20 '26

You only need to report the destruction of resticted and prohib firearms. NRs do not need to be reported, which is why we all destroyed ours the day before the OIC.

1

u/WearifulSole Jun 19 '26

Yeah I've seen this reported online, but I can't find any official sources of information on it. Do you happen to have a link?

2

u/NecessaryRisk2622 Jun 20 '26

Runkle has made mention of this I believe.

1

u/bobotea Jun 19 '26

i keep seeing this repeated online but i cant find anywhere on the RCMP or AFCP website that states you can self destroy. Everything seems to indicate you have to send it to a gunsmith. Is someone able to show me the source for this?

5

u/EnvironmentBright697 Jun 20 '26

You have to go to the firearms act for that info. RCMP and the gov don’t want people knowing about this one.

2

u/Reasonable_Hall2346 Jun 19 '26

AFCP is about “compensation” and so destruction falls out of scope of it. It has always been legal to destroy your firearms. The legal requirement is to report the destruction of prohibited and restricted firearms. For NR you don’t have to report it. However now even previous NR fall into prohibited. It’s in the Firearms act.

2

u/andthatyouhave Jun 20 '26

From the amnesty order:
(2) The purpose of the amnesty period is to
(a) permit a person referred to in paragraph (1)(a) or (b) (*you the owner) to
(i) deactivate the specified firearm so that it is no longer a firearm,

The owner has amnesty to deactivate.

1

u/GoGetInvolved Jun 20 '26

It's in the Criminal Code section 106. If you destroy a prohibited or restricted firearm (legal) it becomes illegal if you don't report it to a police officer or firearms officer.

7

u/613mitch Jun 19 '26

You need to report it in a timely manner. That's all the act requires of you.

14

u/Relevant_Diver_3228 Jun 19 '26

"Cut them" wink wink

53

u/ThePoeticJester Jun 19 '26

Every cop I've spoken to about the situation has said flat out they arent going door to door. Not that they wont be asked to but because they are choosing not to. Sure thats not EVERY cop but if they want to play bullshit and report gun owners, ok? I've had 2 shootings within my block in a week.. you think Im a priority for a gun I cant even take to the range? Lol

Eat my ass and suck my balls, GG no Re

6

u/Spiritual_Block6193 Jun 19 '26

Extremely based

2

u/WeightedDips95 Jun 21 '26

If things changed and they were told to or they lose their job, ability to pay bills, and pensions, they would act like they never said this and bust down your door in heartbeat. Thinking otherwise is pure delusion.

1

u/8x56isfmj000 Jun 20 '26

The sorry bastards fined a guy 1500.00 for dancing on a street corner in Sherwood Park AB and threatened to arrest him. Nothing but a bunch of inbred losers. Gotta get the bastards out of the province.

72

u/VanillaHighlights Jun 19 '26

What an incredibly detailed and cited source of journalism.

I'm not subscribing for a "3 minute read", just copy paste the article dude.

19

u/SufficientProof40 Jun 19 '26

Yeah, not that some of our mainstream media is much better but this isn’t exactly journalism.

21

u/Embarrassed-Mess-560 Jun 19 '26

This isn't news? Obviously the government is going to rely on police to enforce laws it passes.

3

u/uberduck999 N/R Whisperer Jun 19 '26

It's just funny because this is up there as one of the emptiest threats of all time, considering the thing they're threatening gun owners with is the police, which, by and large, have already repeatedly told them they would not be participating in the confiscation. So why would they (or we) care who the government reports to them. The answer will still be no.

21

u/boozefiend3000 Jun 19 '26

Still don’t surrender shit. Let them quadruple the prison population in this country for no reason

11

u/Ov3rReadKn1ght0wl Jun 19 '26

This was always going to be within the logistical scope of the program. If you registered any firearm with the fed through declarations or had a former R class, this was coming at some point. They really want to strong arm here.

11

u/PrestigiousStatus711 Jun 19 '26

CFP will be getting a lot of destruction emails the day before amnesty expires (if that comes).

11

u/Lumindan Jun 20 '26

Need to remind everyone, even if we lose in the supreme court, nothing has changed.

The government still doesn't have a clear collection path aside from fear mongering and hoping weak willed owners will fold.

As always. The answer is mass non compliance.

Stay strong, have some dignity.

8

u/ReturnOk7510 Jun 19 '26

I mean, obviously

9

u/BigheadReddit Jun 19 '26

What guns ?

10

u/dirkdiggler2011 Jun 20 '26

Remember covid? Did they go door to door to enforce quarantine or size of gatherings?

Do they go door to door now to see if you have stuff stored safely?

The police are short handed now. Any special events cost big for OT and the provinces won't be paying that.

Your mistake here is thinking the Liberals will actually do what they said they will do. They're full of shit. Why believe them now?

2

u/No_Past_6226 Jun 20 '26

They’re trying to get people to “volunteer” to forfeit their firearms. Just like how they were getting people to take the jab.

1

u/Azuvector bc Jun 20 '26

> Remember covid? Did they go door to door to enforce quarantine or size of gatherings?

Yeah, they did in some instances. Generally as part of a noise (party) complaint or similar.

4

u/dirkdiggler2011 Jun 20 '26

The difference is there are 2.5 million of us. That's a lot of parties to attend.

6

u/NeighborhoodWest8294 Jun 19 '26

How many people get Roger Katanko’d if they go through with this? Its a terrible idea to put the police or gun owners in this position.

7

u/Inevitable-Click-129 Jun 19 '26

Will be interesting to see what happens if they lose the Supreme Court case?… then what?..

10

u/EnglishmanInMH Jun 20 '26

Hopefully the SCC rule that government can't use OIC to regulate firearms. Then the OICs are canceled and everything essentially returns to the state it was the day before the first OIC.

Until the gubmint manage to pass an actual bill that has the same effect as the OICs and then we start the whole dumbass carousel again!

1

u/HappyCan7250 Jun 23 '26

Don't worry, this government takes so many breaks and wastes so much time, even if they wanted to do it via legislation it would take them at least another year. They're incompetent, and sometimes, that is a blessing in disguise. Too bad they're making 200k+ a piece to be incompetent though, while I work my ass off in the sun, rain and snow for $75k a year!

7

u/bandersnatching Jun 19 '26

This is nonsense. Stop it please.

If SC upholds confiscations, due process still pertains, same as before the federal government extended the amnesty.

How that shakes out, is still an unknown. Will the Royal Canadians come for you, if they know for a fact that you have a prohibited firearm? They don't even know themselves. Will they dig deep into the purchase records maintained independently by sellers of non-restricteds? I doubt it. That's a lot of work, and a lot of pushback by everyone concerned. Time will pass, other events will eclipse this, while dust settles on the safe queens.

3

u/NecessaryRisk2622 Jun 20 '26

A lot of work, but the government has never had an issue with spending our money frivolously.

2

u/gspotcowboy Jun 21 '26

due process still pertains

This! For NRs at least, the police can't kick your door down or have a warrant issued just because they think you have prohibs. There are a number of legal ways that someone could no longer have an NR in their possession.

This is one of the reasons I think posting your prohibs online for fake internet points is stupid. This sub is actively monitored by law enforcement and Poly. If people actually think that Reddit is that anonymous then I have a bridge to sell them

1

u/HappyCan7250 Jun 23 '26

A gun ahop near me told me a disgruntled employee unfortunately destroyed all their records before leaving too. Im guessing a lot of shops would find themselves in a similar scenario. Not all, but a lot.

7

u/Sushyneutah Jun 20 '26

Not just with this - but the liberals are setting themselves up to be unelectable next cycle.

We can already see it in the approval ratings.

8

u/westleysnipes604 Jun 20 '26

I saw a post today making fun of conservatives.

Saying we hate freedom. Yet the Liberals are censoring the internet and creating a surveillance state.

Saying we made everything less affordable. Yet the Liberals have had power for 11 years.

Liberal votets are not the most informed. The average liberal hates Trump and can't even name a single US politician that wasn't a presidential candidate. They hate billionaires but voted for a billionaire who owns a hedge fund.

I have zero a faith they won't kwwp voting the same way.

10

u/No_Reveal_7886 Jun 20 '26

Not just with this - but the liberals are setting themselves up to be unelectable next cycle.

If they got re-elected after the disaster that was 2014-2024 I wouldn't be so sure. Most voters are morons.

Some time before the next US election in 2028, the banker will call up the real estate developer and ask him to ramp up the 51st rhetoric. The Libs will call an early election, you know... because they need "a renewed majority mandate to give Canadians a stable government through the coming uncertain times"... and unfortunately, it's highly likely voters will give it to them.

Save an Epstein files level scandal involving Carney, best case we're looking at 2031 or 2032 before any hope of a CPC government.

5

u/boozefiend3000 Jun 20 '26

I doubt it. This country produces a loooot of idiots. I can see em winning in 2029 too

2

u/DarkenemyxXx Jun 20 '26

Yea… no. Unfortunately in Canada we reward politicians ( liberal ones) and they fail upwards. There’s nothing we can do to change the brains of the average Canadian. Simply beyond working with. Liberals will reign for the foreseeable future no matter what.

13

u/Flat-Dark-Earth Big Bore Specialist Jun 19 '26

6

u/Weak-Coffee-8538 Jun 20 '26

Either court ruling.

My property stays with me.

5

u/CatchADeffaz Jun 19 '26

Can someone copy and paste the fuck it says

4

u/erpvertsferervrywern Jun 20 '26

Lots of boating accidents now that no one has guns anymore...

3

u/No_Reveal_7886 Jun 20 '26

Haven't heard of any boating accidents, but I do remember a  massive rash of guns getting blown up from a few bad batches of 556 and 9mm back in mid 2024. This is probably why most of the declarations were 22s

1

u/grandfundaytoday Jun 20 '26

A boating accident might end up being verified by a dive team. The legal path is to destroy your prohibited yourself and report the destruction within a recent time frame. I cut up all my NR rocket launchers right after the Nova Scotia shooters shot up the firehall and put the parts in the bluebox for recycling. in 2020. /s

6

u/No_Reveal_7886 Jun 20 '26

Sorry, I'm new here.  I keep hearing about "going door to door" to gun owners homes, but why would they do that when all these Assaultish Styled Weapons are "on the streets"

Shouldn't they just arrest all the guys walking around city roads with AR's slung across their backs?

9

u/fartsNdoom Jun 19 '26

Socialists have a history of notifying the secret police if their neighbour is spewing dissent. They're all about the Good Boy Points™.

3

u/derdubb Jun 20 '26

The feds already know who has every single registered firearm.

Another bullshit scare tactic

3

u/Many-Presentation-56 Jun 20 '26

How very “Liberal” of them…

3

u/swpz01 Jun 21 '26 edited Jun 21 '26

Considering 1 Toronto cop was shot dead and another seriously injured recently executing a warrant (so forced entry), the fact of the matter is, if there's any form of resistance at any residence - there will be losses. The cops simply do not have the numbers to absorb those losses considering there's at least a million gun owners involved, if even 1% off those decide to shoot back, you're looking at ten thousand plus cops and gun owners dead.

Getting the army involved would change nothing as unless they stayed in their vehicles and shot the houses up from that safety, once in the open, bullets are bullets. The optics of the army attacking residences would be quite interesting and would quite possibly justify foreign intervention.

It would be a total nightmare and irrecoverable PR for any government.

6

u/ExplorerEnjoyer Jun 19 '26

Why would you register them and not hand them in lol. Of course they’ll come for you.

16

u/VanillaHighlights Jun 19 '26

They're all previously registered restricted firearms anyways.

They already know which you have and where you live. Only the fucking braindead ever thought they would be able to keep any of their restricted.

NRs that weren't claimed are a completely different story and situation.   I "sold all my NR guns pre OIC in a Cabela's parking lot."

9

u/Natural_Comparison21 Jun 19 '26

To be fair there is a license verification checker but all that does is create reasonable doubt for both parties.

Seller: I sold it to this guy look at the license verification time frame.

Buyer: I decided to not buy it in the end.

Seller: Well I don’t know what to tell you but I did sell it to him.

Buyer: nuh uh.

Seller: Yeh uh.

You get the picture.

9

u/IcySkyDream Jun 19 '26

"Hold my beer!" - Mike (Canmore, AB).

6

u/Foreign_Active_7991 Jun 20 '26

Every single gun show, as many people as possible should all license verify each other to just flood the system with signal noise making it logistically prohibitive for the gov to follow up with every single person who verified and was verified that day.

4

u/SwordJabbingAction Jun 20 '26

It’s already logistically prohibitive.

3

u/Natural_Comparison21 Jun 20 '26

It would make it very very logistically difficult indeed.

8

u/TopReach1866 Jun 19 '26

Our god given rights in accordance with natural law superseeds any rights the government has, remember that folks

-3

u/AntiNakedman Jun 20 '26

What if I’m an atheist? Do I not get rights?

11

u/3202supsaW Jun 20 '26

No, God still gave you rights

2

u/grandfundaytoday Jun 20 '26

You don't have to believe to have rights.

2

u/Foreign_Active_7991 Jun 20 '26

Flat-earthers still experience the day/night cycle and change of seasons that are a result of the earth's rotation and elliptical orbit around the sun, just because they don't believe the earth is round doesn't magically stop it from being so.

1

u/Wind_0f_Pain Jun 20 '26

This! 😍

2

u/jazscam Jun 20 '26

The CFP is run by the RCMP, they already know.

1

u/Trick-Goat-3643 Jun 19 '26

Do you eat food?
Would you like to discuss how you have others do your killing for you?
No?
How strange.....

1

u/FortyMaximus Jun 20 '26

Empty threats! They don't have the resources, funds or manpower to go door to door and confiscate everyone's firearms. Hold on to them with dear life! I made the mistake of not appealing when they tricked me into withdrawing my renewal application and they waited till the HG Freeze was in effect to tell me they would not give the go ahead on my renewal. So I could not even transfer my Beretta 96 to my close friends or family. I only have two DUI's which is not a violent offence and have always maintained strict discipline when handling, transporting or storing my firearms. I even scored 99 on my RPAL with not even taking the course when challenging the exam was an option back then. Make me sick to my stomach!

-16

u/K0bra_Ka1 Jun 19 '26

Anyone who thought there would not be a consequence for not destroying or turning in their previously restricted firearms was delusional. 100% the RCMP will revoke your PAL for unauthorized possession of a prohibited weapon after the amnesty ends and you still have previously restricted firearms that were not surrendered or destroyed.

24

u/Cope180-Enjoyer Jun 19 '26

Who gives a fuck. They eroded the trust, not us. Mass non compliance and reparations for mistreatment in the future.

3 FN FALs for each household.

12

u/Dependent_Border7961 Jun 19 '26

Just tell the RCMP "damn boat ate me armalite".

4

u/westleysnipes604 Jun 20 '26

Whats the point of a PAL when all.your guns are illegal?

0

u/K0bra_Ka1 Jun 20 '26

You don't own a single non-affected gun?

4

u/westleysnipes604 Jun 20 '26

The government has ruined the sport for me. I have 1 unaffected gun. I don't even care about having a PAL anymore.

-4

u/K0bra_Ka1 Jun 20 '26

That sucks. I understand your frustration but I still feel an obligation to be a legal firearms owner regardless of how my government treats me. If I've been saying for years my PAL is what separates me from criminals, I'm going to stand by that even when it's difficult

Mine were all specifically approved for acquisition.  Taxes were paid to the govt

All terms and conditions were followed to the letter.

The govt broke the contract / agreement and they can’t even be honest about it

My obligation ends there
