Buy recommendations "Tactical" Semi-Auto .22 Recommendation
Hey fellas,
I am looking to get this communities insight on a .22lr that would fit the bill for the training I want to do.
I know next to nothing about the semi auto .22 market outside of a bit of googling. I am not really a gun guy but I have a lot of trigger time on AR platforms. I want to maintain that skill set and some previous job specific standards
Money is not really an issue.
I am looking for something that feeds reliably, is accurate, and has AR-style ergonomics (preferably even a similar safety selector, mag release, and bolt catch); In that order.
I intend of mounting an eotech, flashlight, and possibly a laser at some point.
I want to predominantly shoot between 3 and 25m, working on single to multiple round engagements with a shot clock and some multi-target running around stuff. Hence reliability being the main thing.
So far I have stumbled across the ruger 10/22 which seems the most customizable, ST 22, Adler, and the Derya TM 22 which seems nice but the pricepoint seems low. I have read about issues with the Adler.
Any insight on you guys on a good gun or custom build that would check the boxes I want to check?

My Ruger is more accurate and likely more reliable over the long run than my TM22 pro, but the TM22 is a ton of fun, especially with the top charging handle and short barrel.
TM22 so far has been eating every brand of bullet ive thrown at it with no issues. Theres also a bit of tinkering needing to be done, check out "the toonie/washer buffer tube fix" and the "left extractor removal" fixes. Otherwise ive loved my TM22 so far.
Long story short - If 100% reliability is a big factor for you, like for hunting, then Ruger is the best bet. if you want to customize the rifle to whatever you could think of, then the Ruger still wins. If youre looking for fun tacticool out of the box, TM22 is the one.
Just keep in mind, TM22 is Turkish, anticipate it to be a dud out of the box needing warranty work. Its always a 50/50 gamble with QC on turk rifles hahaha
I forgot to add, with the tm22 top charging handle, the controls are very similar in style to the rifles youve mentioned, the RUGGER a little less similar out of the box.

Just Google tm22 buffer tube washer fix and left extractor removal. Lots of info out there about these now

Personally id never buy a Turkish center fire due to the reputation of em, the gamble for a tacticool .22 for 400 bucks doesnt worry me haha. If there was a higher end, Canadian made TM22 competitor, id be all over it. Sadly that isnt the case these days

I 100% see where you're coming from haha. When it goes so bad, that you just hit that point and say f### it, never again haha.

Dud - just means its no good out of the box. Doesn't work in one way or another etc etc.

SBI 10/22 chassis, pretty sure they are selling complete rifles too. They post here pretty frequently.
CSC has some Volquartsen builds in stock, I’ve heard mixed things about their reliability. Pricey but they look nice.

Yep or anything KIDD too fantastic parts I built my own using grey birch receiver and KIDD bolt, and ruger trigger

Kinda? Haha either way it’s badass haha. I have an rf224 and I’ll be selling it now that I have a 10/22 carbon

SBI with top cocking system. You can get mag add ons to make longer AR like mags. Safety is different than an AR however.

TM22 with Alex Homebrew charging handle or ST-22 with T charging handle and then swap in a tandemkross selector safety ?

The st 22 is a 10/22 reciver made by Spectre ballistics a Canadian company the guy posts here sometimes it is probably the best that we have here you could also get the Alex homebrew top charging handle for a tm 22 which is the best budget tactical style one here
