Looks great. How does the mag well adapter work?

u/LordRaizer Jun 12 '26

Wondering this too, how does it compare to the Hical?

I’ve always found the TNA to be rougher sliding in magazines than the hi cal. The 3D plastic is a bit too tight so your mag rubs all the way as you insert it. TNA is slightly flared though which is a nice touch, I’ve had problems connecting into the hi cal as it’s exactly the size of a magazine

the TNA mag adapter actually shows up at your door.

Does it also require modifying the rifle or plug and play

1

u/MourningWood1942 Jun 12 '26

Both TNA and Hical adaptors require milling out the receiver and chassis. There’s nothing on the market that’s plug and play unless using duckbill mags

1

u/Any-Rip-9727 Jun 12 '26

Any of those mags that hold 10 or is everything pinned to 5?

1

u/MourningWood1942 Jun 12 '26

All the duckbill mags are rifle mags pinned to 5. The only way to run pistol mags with 10 requires milling the receiver.

There a guy I know who designed his own chassis that has an adaptor built in (so you don’t need a TNA or Hical), but it still requires milling of the receiver. He provides better milling services far cheaper and better than Hical does. Hical kinda takes off too much unnecessary material from what I’ve seen.

The Hical is a far better adapter than TNA, but TNA is a fraction of the price. Difference is machined aluminum vs 3D printed. Everything on the Hical is smooth and heavy duty, the TNA one has that roughness feeling in the mag release button and magwell.

Problem is Hical can takes months and months, they have been back ordered for a long time and don’t communicate that while still taking orders.

TNA arrives really quick, they have a bunch in stock.

I have both

1

u/LordRaizer Jun 12 '26

Yeah durability is my biggest concern, if you're gonna be slamming mags into it, I'd prefer machined aluminum

1

u/twistedhumoraffy Jun 12 '26

I had ordered the hical adapter 3 months ago still didn’t get it

Atleast tna one showed up in 2 days

2

u/twistedhumoraffy Jun 12 '26

Takes AR mags

u/FioreFX Jun 12 '26

Excellent! I serendipitously placed order this morning from Neuman metalworks for a grip rail and handguard for the same hush build.

Do you plan on keeping the metal folding stock? Personally, i plan on changing mine.

3

u/twistedhumoraffy Jun 12 '26

For now I’ll keep it but yeah will be switching it out what will u be putting on ?

3

u/FioreFX Jun 12 '26 edited Jun 12 '26

Not sure yet but I already put in an order for a rear pickatiny adapter from Hush. In anticipation.

Edit

Ideally something lighter that can lock in the folded position efficiently.

carrying that around will give you swole biceps

3

u/twistedhumoraffy Jun 12 '26

Hell yeah don’t mind that

2

u/I_Automate Jun 12 '26

Gotta make them gainz

5

u/iNeedAdivorce Jun 12 '26

Red dot? I'd LPVO that sucker! Beauty.

4

u/twistedhumoraffy Jun 12 '26

Giving me ideas here ok hmmm

3

u/iNeedAdivorce Jun 12 '26

LPVO you get that close shot and easy work out to 200. Just sayin.

2

u/twistedhumoraffy Jun 12 '26

Yeah I’ve seen some wicked builds with Lpvo’s this I might have to try

1

u/BowFella Jun 12 '26

200 yards with a gun that is 4-7moa? Unecessary weight and bulk. If you're feeling like dumping damn near indirect fire at 200 yards with an SKS a reddot will do just fine

3

u/I_Automate Jun 12 '26

My astigmatism prefers etched reticles to projected ones

1

u/BowFella Jun 12 '26

In that case I'd heavily recommend the Primary arms SLX 1x or 3x microprisms. They're the size of a reddot and good for astigmatism. The 3x comes in models thay have drop denominations on the reticle for 7.62x39

5

u/I_Automate Jun 12 '26

Or I get an LPVO because we live in a world filled with options.

Buddy is already adding weight, obviously he's not aiming for the most high speed low drag option he can get.

I've got a vortex 5x prism on my 5.56mm in any case

2

u/iNeedAdivorce Jun 12 '26

It may shoot that way... I've had some decent SKS in the past sub 2 MOA... The LPVO is just a fun option. A cheap 1 MOA red dot tube is also fun.

Think your confused with ur Bow.

1

u/BowFella Jun 12 '26

Nah I've had bows that were way more accurate than an SKS. Hell I have smoothbore shotgun that are more accurate. SKSs are notoriously innaccurate. 7moa is generous considering that they walk when the barrel heats up. Would never use one for hunting past 50 yards.

3

u/Murray3-Dvideos Jun 13 '26

Well now ur just spewing hate speech lol.

1

u/BowFella Jun 13 '26

I need to find a slur for the SKS.

2

u/Status_Ticket5044 Jun 12 '26

The age-old question... Where do you mount a magnified 3-4" eye relief scope on an SKS?

5

u/Brymes13 Jun 12 '26

I have almost this exact build going right now, minus the rails. I’m putting one pica rail where the back peep site is and putting on a cheap feyachi reflex site from amazon.

1

u/Banana_war Jun 12 '26

Are those sight any good/durable?

2

u/Any-Rip-9727 Jun 12 '26

Wouldnt recommend for a sks maybe .22

2

u/Brymes13 Jun 12 '26

probably not but for $40 I don't really care

4

u/therowdyirishman Jun 12 '26

Holosun enclosed emitter of your preferred flavor gets my vote for red dots.

1

u/twistedhumoraffy Jun 12 '26

I was also looking at the VORTEX VENOM ENCLOSED 3 MOA MICRO RED DOT

5

u/skyblargh Jun 12 '26

Ugly as fuck. I love it.

4

u/Fine-Mine-3281 Jun 12 '26

“If you have a problem and no one else can help, and if you can find them, maybe you can hire the A-Team”

3

u/Status_Ticket5044 Jun 12 '26

He's going to need to chrome plate it.

4

u/Eisgeschoss Jun 12 '26

Looks like the Frankenstein monster offspring of an SKS and an M1A1 Carbine and I love it. 😍
Any experience yet to say how well it handles/shoots?

2

u/twistedhumoraffy Jun 12 '26

Will be shooting it Saturday I’ll post a vid

3

u/Benefit_Waste Jun 12 '26

"mom, can we have an m1 carbine"
"No honey, we have m1 carbine at home"
m1 carbine at home:

2

u/Mammoth-Branch8068 Jun 12 '26

Was the tna a bitch to install?

1

u/twistedhumoraffy Jun 12 '26

Just lots of milling

2

u/Mahatma_Ghandicap Jun 12 '26

For a RDS, Vortex SPARC II's are on sale right now for 135$ a certain retailers, regular $350. Not sure If I'm allowed to mention which or post a link tho...

1

u/Status_Ticket5044 Jun 12 '26

The Vortex Sparc II is a 10 year old design on it's way out. That said, it's tough as nails and still very relevant for $135CAN. I grabbed one for no particular reason other than it's not amazon and my son's birthday is coming up. OR I find I like it on an SKS more than the Romeo 5 there now.

2

u/Mahatma_Ghandicap Jun 12 '26

Same. I bought two "just to have around" lol

2

u/StalkerRigo Jun 12 '26

This is my dream build right here. Low profile folding stock, mag well, some rails. I would add a side drilling for scope ak style because I prefer those over the traditional sks scope mount. beautiful work dude

2

u/twistedhumoraffy Jun 12 '26

Thank you 🙏🏽

2

u/RangeArts Jun 12 '26

Don't forget to pick it up tomorrow :)

2

u/twistedhumoraffy Jun 13 '26

I’ll be there SHOUT OUT TO BYRON AT RANGEARTS🙏🏽🙌🏾

2

u/JaxIsLoud 29d ago

Only thing that ruins this for me is how far forward the mag release is on this from trigger.

1

u/twistedhumoraffy 29d ago

Can’t have it all
Bro

u/BowFella Jun 12 '26 edited Jun 12 '26

Shorten the barrel to 18.5 and you'll have a neat PDW style to it. One thing I dont like about folders on SKSs is the barrel is still long.

Definitely one of the better SKS Builds I've seen that doesnt make it look like it weighs 20lbs or a paintball gun. The TNA magwell looks way better than the Hical one imo.

1

u/twistedhumoraffy Jun 12 '26

Yeah I was thinking on how to shorten the barrel also hical magwell way overpriced and hot garbage
