The Texan is back with yet ANOTHER Gun Appreciation Post.

This time, with a commonwealth era firearm! I know that these are very rare, but it’s still relevant to this day because people have in fact made reproductions of these, and I mean I’m sure someone in Canada has done it before too, it’s in the realm of possibility. Over here in America, Valkyrie Arms and US Armament MFG make reproductions that you can buy yourself so that way you can live your own dream of having one.

But anyways.

This gun is historically significant for the fact that it was just some guy in his shed who was making silencers for his .22’s while he was squirrel hunting, and then later on the British MoD liked what he was doing, and so he made probably the coolest frankengun out there.

He used an SMLE No. 1 MK III, Thompson Submachine Gun Barrel, and a Colt M1911 Magazine, and to top it all off, his giant homemade silencer that he put on top.

.45 ACP is also naturally a subsonic round, and for this situation, it was perfect, it was perfect, down to the last minute detail!

As to who it was issued to? Well from the known sources that I was able to gather, mainly British commandos used them throughout WW2 and Korea, but it also gained one cameo appearance during the Malayan Emergency.

There was a folding stock version of it that existed, but only one known prototype ever existed.

Apart from the Rhineland kit, did we ever get the reproduction full rifles in Canada?

Not that I am aware of. Wish we did though. Would be awesome to have a bolt action that can shoot 45 acp.
