Misc Gun club advise

I’m moving to Hamilton in Sept for school and wanted to get a membership at the silverdale gun club since I’m gonna way to far from my CL spot

I wanted to ask if anyone else has a membership there and what their experience is like

Hey, any chance your going to McMaster? If so you’re in the same boat as me. McMaster somehow has a university sanctioned gun club & varsity shooting team, MUSS…

If your going in the fall, join MUSS, it is 100 bucks a year and this will allow you to skip the waitlist to join Burlington revolver rifle club… a 24/7 memebers only indoor 50m range

EDIT: the membership is also half priced for students at Mac, ~175 a year

I second MUSS. It’s a great club/team and the discount to BRRC is well worth it

Hey. Silverdale member here. This is my second year with the club. I’ve had nothing but good experience. They are pretty rules heavy. For example you can’t shot with iron sights on the 200 yard range. And it also is a bit expensive at $500 for a full membership. After your first year though you can switch to a half price membership that is limited to 10 visits for $250. That’s what I did this year because I just can’t make it out enough to justify the full membership.

Now all that stuff aside it is the only club I was able to find that doesn’t have some sort of wait list or hoops that you have to jump through. All you have to do for Silverdale after joining in attend a safety briefing that last I think 2 hours if I remember correctly.

Summery, first year is a bit expensive if you are not shooting a lot. They have some strict rules. But easy sign up no hoops or waitlist. And for me it’s been a good experience shooting there. I would recommend it to people looking for a club.

Not a member, but have been here twice. It’s a long drive for us (almost 2hours), but it’s the only outdoor range that allows non-members that we have found. It is $60 for 1.5 hour shoot. I have applied for membership though, as we have really enjoyed it. They seem to be the easiest membership process as well. As for cost, they actually seem to be the cheapest we have seen for outdoor ranges. But if you apply now, it is for next year. Was talking to the RSO this past weekend when we were there (he has been a member for 17 years)….everything he was saying makes the club sound super friendly and helpful. We are very new to guns, and him and another officer were giving us lots of info and advice. They were super friendly and talkative! You should definitely try them out.
