Buy recommendations Looking for a reliable online auction site for firearms, ammunition, firearms accessories.
I’ve been looking for an auction site and wanted to know if anyone had a reliable one for anything firearm related in Canada.

Switzers has been the most expensive auction I’ve participated in, but also they are also the best in terms of descriptions/info, variety, reliability and service.

This. Unique or cool stuff is big money usually with resellers and collectors. If you're looking for a more common rifle or item, there can be some good deals. I got a new .300 win R700 for $650 and a good Mossberg 590a1 cheap

Right, one thing I've noticed is that people bid up some items for more than market value, like 3k all in (including buyers premium) for a garand

For a lot of people, likely those who have limited access to diverse markets (remember Canada is a huge country and not everyone has a gun store nearby), paying over and above a particular gun's value is the price to secure the thing they want/need that they can't get locally. Hence why you'll usually see a Ruger American Gen 1 for $800, plus the $200 auction fee, plus shipping, which ends up at like $500 over what you'll pay for them at Canadian Tire.

I get involved in all of them through icollector.com . You just have to filter it down to firearms and Canada

SFRC does quarterly auctions I think, theyre pretty frequent.

I have nothing but positive experiences with SFRC, purchased a lot from them. Just read the descriptions on the items and inspect the photos. Some items are surplus, some are consignment, some are brand new. Also great customer service.

While I haven't used their auctions, I have made a few purchases from them and have always been happy.

Personally, I would never use an auction service. I have bought/sold/trade nearly 50 firearms through Canadian Gun Nutz (CGN) over the past decade. I don't see the point in paying someone for something that I could do myself. GGN is probably the biggest platform in Canada to exchange firearms and related stuff, in which you will likely receive the best price..... and its 100% free with pictures.
Personal preference aside, I believe SFRC has auctions and so does a gun store in Saskatoon (can't remember the name though).

CGN or gunpost is also my preference, but you can definitely get deals for obscure items and rare firearms. You just have to know what you're bidding on is worth, understand that you haven't confirmed its functionality and bid accordingly. Also taking into account the buyers premium, GST and shipping. Once you know it's worth make a limit and stick to it.
For example I paid like $450 for a parker hale musketoon in very good condition, they go for $800 to 1100.
I've only ever used icollector or liveauctionworld.com. I've won items from switzers, kidd, SFRC, hunters unite and wards.

iCollector, filter "Firearms" and "Canada". Big auction houses like Switzer's and SFRC will show up.

Switzer’s has the best as far as variety in my opinion. One of the cheapest would be Kidd family auctions imo

SFRC, Switzers, and Wards are probably the best auction sites available in Canada. I’ve managed to snag a few good deals from them in the past, especially Wards as they’re not as well known as the other two.

icollector has a lot of auctions from Canadian auction houses from time to time. Switzers is doing an auction right now.

SFRC auctions seem pretty good. However, their auction fee is 15% and shipping can be pretty pricey depending on what bid you won. If you live anywhere close to SFRC I'd recommend choosing the pick up option to save on the shipping costs.

Extreme range outfitters has a weekly auction. Bought many items from them and they are reliable. Also Taylor's Auctioneers has firearms sometimes in their auctions.

Mc sherry auctions. They regularly carry out firearm and ammo auctions for both old and modern guns, I've bought old rifles and ammo from them. The only problem is you have to go and collect the items in person, and they're located in Stonewall, MB.

Outside of auctions there are the two more popular exchange sites. Gunnutz and townpost
