Milsurps / Prohib Help buying first Mosin 91/30? What's the going price these days? Price Check?
https://www.gunpost.ca/firearms/rifles/peterborough/mosin-nagant-9130I am looking to buy a Mosin 91/30, and I came across an ad on GunPost for one in supposedly good condition for $900.
$900 is much too high for a standalone rifle, but the listing includes 375 rounds of ammo.
The total price seems reasonable considering the ammunition, even though the rifle itself would be expensive on its own.
I have read a few comments here mentioning that this particular seller tends to overprice their items, so I wanted to see what others think?
For around $669 CAD for the rifle plus $230 CAD for the ammo, is this a fair price or is it overpriced?
What do Canadian Mosin experts think?

I am by no means a mosin expert, just getting into milsurps. From what i’ve seen, that is a typical price nowadays for a mosin. Even at auction they tend to go for $600-$700 without ammo. $750 on marstar.

You must’ve been the person who replied then deleted their comment haha. In any case just so you’re aware he changes his prices almost weekly so you might not get it for $900 and he doesn’t ship at all so you have to spend potentially hours of your time driving out to him in Peterborough for it

Not specifically this deal, but in general milsurp is always expensive today then eventually why didn’t I buy that X amount of years ago.

I could never fathom paying any of that pricing for a normal 91/30. They are literally garbage rods. They were fun and great because they were cheap. Now they cost the same as most of the nice entry level bolt actions, there really is no reason to buy one. Even if you're hung up on the "history" side of it, it's still a shit rifle. Go get a nice full wood Enfield for a couple hundred more.
Truth be told if you really want one, look at gunpost and be patient. I off loaded the last of my mosins over the last year between 500-1100. Low end for 91/30, higher end was polish m44.

This is an older community so people are more resistant to accepting change, but mosins are in fact worth more than 200 canadian pesos now.
What can you buy for $200 these days?

Honestly $750 for that Mosin plus 375 rounds of surplus ammo is a pretty good deal IMO. Jump on that if you want a Mosin and don't have one.

I paid 600 without ammo
Just the rifle, bayonet, trigger lock, and some leather ammo pouches

I sold mine a few months ago for 400$ it was all orignal 1939 model with a matching bayonet you’re getting fleeced buying from this guy

I bought one last year for $450 but I’d expect $550-600 ish to be typical.

In QC there is one for 400$ and 450$, but yes ammo is expensive these days, but 375rds is APPARENTLY worth around 280-300$
700$ with that ammo is good, 900$ is too much for a 91/30 ROUND receiver IMO…..but I started collecting mosins in 2018 (Thank god) so prices have DRASTICALLY changed from 250-350 to 650-850 :/

Like 200 dollars? My dad has a crate of them or 2; everytime someone we know gets their PAL, my dad would give them a free mosin or a free SKS

Your dad is a saint. But this stuff doesn't go for 200$ anymore. The market sets the pricing.
