I feel like the SKS D (literally just the SKS M but with last round bolt hold open) is a bit more common in Canada. Gunpost is my go to, I see them every once in a while. They’re also not too bad, notably cheaper than a Carmel or a Makasi.

I will warn you though, as someone who’s been trying to design an AK mag conversion for the SKS, all of these detachable AK mag SKS models have the reliability of neither the SKS or the AK mag. They almost always have feeding issues, or if they modify the bolt enough to fix the feeding issues they end up being much less reliable due to being structurally compromised.

Still cool guns and relatively affordable all things considered.

No problem. Alternatively you can wait a while until I actually figure out my own AK mag conversion lol, but realistically that’s gonna take a while. I yearn for a good SKS AK mag interface, from what I hear though sometimes you can get lucky with a good SKS D that feeds nicely and isn’t too picky with mags. Good luck on your search!

As someone who has done the conversion I can confirm the difficulty in reliable feeding. Made mine for T81 mags and no others because I’m not going to make every different type of ak mag work in my gun.
