Buy recommendations Swiss k31

Good evening my fellow shooters. I've been going down a rabbit hole of looking up old milsurp rifles and the consensus is the Swiss k31 is the best out of the ones I was looking at, mosin was another but from what I saw on posts and reviews the k31 is just better overall. So my question is wheres a good place to pick up one from ? I saw a few sites here in canada that are selling them. The prices range from 699-1200. Im assuming the price range is because of the overall grade of the rifle etc. Should there be anything to watch out for in terms of grade?. Like Rack Grade seems to be decent enough. Anyway thanks for reading and any help I get !

Thanks for the info ! I'll check out GP and see what's available on there as well. Funny enough my dad gifted me all of his reloading equipment, I just need to set everything up. So thats definitely on the table for me as well.

Canada gets a lot of imports of old k11s and k31s so you can find them at retailers but better deals are found online second hand. When it comes to grade the only thing to look for is a clean bore as most of these rifles saw use in drills under Swiss compulsory conscription and later as competition rifles.

If you really want a rifle free from training dings and scratches you will be looking well above 1k in price.

Probably best to look around for one on gunpost/townpost or CGN. You might get lucky at an auction too. When you buy from an individual it's a big bonus that you know the exact one you're getting.

The accuracy of K31s is also from very high quality match ammunition being used (GP11). Unfortunately GP11 has almost all dried up. Also look into swedish mausers and finnish M39s, they are great shooters aswell.

Ideally buy a swedish mauser and a k31

Came here to say Swedish mausers are severely slept on when it comes to quality vs price for milsurps thanks to the K31 rightfully getting tons of attention.

Unless you hand-load, swiss ammo is expensive. Also factory nickel-plated GP11 is putting more wear on the bore than copper

I bought a K31 earlier this year ($1200) and probably paid too much. It's awesome though and have no regrets.

I bought a second one for $750. I bought the second one so I could have the stocks in both walnut and beech.

I'll probably ket a K11 at some point as well.

MAAAAANNN this is a great topic, especially since I did exactly this, but 8 years ago…. So I went the mosin / Sks rifles due to prices of ammo and gun

THESE DAYS….. I could see myself getting a Swiss K31 cause 7.62x54r is actually getting expensive now :/

But if you find a Finnish Mosin, it shoots dirty corrosive very well and accurate and will be tons of fun (especially since it’s still 300$/440rds)
