Are combo .22LR/.22WMR revolvers eligible for exempted handguns per the Olympic sports exemptions? (BC)

So I actually managed to get my first handgun exemption for sport shooting and picked up a Ruger MK4 (awesome!). But I was curious too about picking up a .22 revolver to compete as well. One that I found that seems suitable is the Taurus 992, which is a revolver that comes default with both a .22LR cylinder and a .22WMR cylinder. Are revolvers in .22 allowed as exempted .22 sports shooting firearms? Would there be a problem since it comes with a .22WMR cylinder as well? Cheers everyone!

S&w 617 or colt king cobra .22 if you want a new revolver. Colt diamondback or S&w model 17 for a used revolver. Spend the money and get good quality firearms

Two weeks to the day and the BCTSFA approved it after simply requesting (this is per BC’s rules, it may be different in other provinces).

I emailed the BCTSA about it and they said no coach necessary, so I filled in the space with “email correspondence with (person who said no need) said coach isn’t necessary” and it was approved 2 weeks later

I did yes. Well worth the 50$. I signed up the day before and sent in the letter the next morning

Apparently the SFC or some such sports body in Ontario can approve handgun exemptions pretty easy. There’s a couple threads here regarding it

Your only option is the SFC if you are in Ontario.

If you're able to get a revolver, don't get a Taurus. Get a Smith & Wesson or a Ruger (not the ruger wrangler).

Edit: Don't get a heritage rough rider either.

My suggestions:

● Smith and Wesson Model 17. ● Ruger Single Six (you can get this with both the 22lr & 22mag cylinders). ● Ruger GP100 is a good option too. ● Smith 686.

A little while back, an ontarian got a revolver through the exemption, but it technically doesn’t fit the requirements. They got an S&W 617.

I think it’s nightly CFO dependent. If you succeed, pls do let me know as I was considering a Ruger single six

Yeah I think that was me. I picked up three handguns, the S&W 617 being one of them.

My buddy got another exemption letter 3 months later and picked up two more pistols ontop of his current pistol he owns.

I'm planning on picking up a few more nicer ones if the price and availability ever comes.

Irunguns, it’s in their USA store and as long as you have an exemption letter for that firearm, they’ll import it for you

550-600$USD or so. A little expensive but I’m happy with my purchase. Plus irunguns handles the entire paperwork side so I’m not complaining

I’m not sure quite yet where everything is at. I know when I exported a shotgun to a friend in the states using irunguns, it was about 2 months, so personally I’m not too worried

Edit: irunguns did tell me when I inquired that the paperwork was good though and that it should be in the country by July

From what I know, they don’t profile the pistol based on action, only caliber. Although I fully agree, a single action wouldn’t be the quickest, you don’t have to win a comp to participate

Same story here, I picked up a Taurus tracker 6.5” combo revolver in an auction ($200!) for a sweet deal I think and I received my exception letter for it just a week ago. I already had a S&W mod 422 so I felt like I needed a revolver. Stand by for review as I haven’t received it yet

Heck yeah! Happy shooting I’ve recently started practicing with my SW, and holy hawt dog is 25m, one handed at a 6” target not easy to get groups, mind you I’m using ‘cheap’ ammo lol always the ammo’s fault
