Gun and gear reviews New MRA Renegade Mk II in FDE Cerakote
I cannot lie. The new semi-autos were singing to me but I was determined to get into 223/556 this summer and wait out the gun-grab deadline and SCoC case before I invested in anymore ban-bait.
I decided on the Renegade in 19" and waited for them to come back into stock and waited and waited until I got a confirmation that there would be no more 19" units for months.
At about the same time this one popped up at Victory Ridge. Of course I overpaid for the Cerakote I really didn't want or need, and of course I swapped out a few pieces of furniture to Magpul FDE (did they ever match the colour well) and there she is. I've become quite fond of the FDE.
Scope is a Leupold Freedom VX 6-18x40. Ammo's PMC Bronze .223 . The range is 50 yards. (I stuck with 50 yds this trip as I was also out to try to make a red-dot work for me on an SKS. Success! Kudos to Bad-Ace) Looking forward to stretching out to 100 yds.
Other than not reefing and releasing the handle with enough gusto and causing a pile-up on a couple of occasions, I got 100 shots through it with minimal trouble and a lot of fun. It's slick and solid and Canadian. No regrets so far.

Is that like a sub-4 moa bolt action?

I think it should be better at 50 yds but I'm going to need practice and improved shooting technique with centerfire rifles before I declare this rifle accurate or not. Spoiled by 22LR.

PMC Bronze is great cause it's cheap MRA used to list recommended ammo on their site, try Browning BXV next time.

Bought a 1000 case as part of the sunk cost of the rifle. Just sending rounds is fun, I always discover something with each outing, the manual of arms just comes and I get make my own mistakes. Putting holes in paper is my golf.
LOL. I've blasted through 10,000 CCI Blazer and SV for a year and I'm only just dipping my foot in Eley and SK, if I ever get my CZ457 back from my son.

I have very little experience or exposure to ceramic coatings but I am used to inspecting cheap, shitty powder coatings and through that lense, it's even and consistent in thickness and colour throughout. I looked and looked.
MRA states that they aim for Magpul's FDE and they did that incredibly well. I was expecting fit to be affected by the coating's thickness (tight mag well for example) but no, nothing seems jammed together or difficult to fit.

Mine loves pmc bronze. Stacks them on top of eachother at 100 yards with no issues, 12.5 inch factory barrel.

half inch groups at 100 yards is impressive? Lol and here I thought my shooting skills were far below par but i guess i need to re-evaluate lol. Even standing with no rest, 100 yards isnt very hard at all.

Sub moa with bulk pmc is pretty good. I get like 2/3 moa with it. Try some bigger groups 20 rounds and see.

As you already alluded to.... the gun should be capable of shooting notably better then that (half that size group) once you find ammo it likes. Fed my 16" factory barreled MKII 62gr ? PMC if I recall correctly and it patterned like that at 100m.
