Feets / Collection / My build Sunday Sawed-Off (legality in description)

Legal reminder:

- Barrel can’t be cut below 18” (18.5” semi auto)

- OAL can’t be cut below 26”

Figured it was that time of year again to make my annual SBS, thought I would tackle an o/u this time around! Surprisingly, I think I like the look of the o/u finished product more than the 2 sxs’s and the one single shot I’ve done.

Anyways, this is the start of this year’s cut down build. I may do some wood burning art on the wood like I did for the single shot.

Cheers!

OAL can absolutely be under 26". It can't be a handgun, and can't fold or telescope under 26" if it's say a not pistol mares leg, it can be less. There was a 24" mares leg that was NR. The 21" was called a pistol in the usa, so the horse police called it a pistol as well so it was R

This is a poor assumption based on a lack of knowledge. You need to research before you preach. A simple google search with show you that your assumption is absolutely wrong. Factory, aftermarket and modified regulations for Canadian firearms are different. Know the difference before you get caught with what you shouldn’t have.

Never said there weren't differences arbitrarily based on how the firearm came to be. There are always people screaming 'you can't have a gun shorter than 26"' which is nonsense. You can, you just can't homemake one +++

OPs title literally states “Sawed-Off”. Their description is for a modified firearm. They gave the proper legal limits as for such. Your response to that was wrong in stating that it “could be shorter” etc. Take the loss and learn from it.

It could be shorter. If someone sees this and wants a shorter one, they'll have to buy it manufactured that way. That is what I was getting to. Then you got booty blasted. OPs gun is cool, but if you want a shorty shotgun or manual action rifle you're going to have to buy it that way

That’s one way to say you don’t know what you’re talking about instead of saying you have no clue what you’re talking about.

It can be under 26” or 18” barrel, but only with factory interchangeable parts. As specified, the barrel and oal can’t be cut specifically below the aforementioned sized

Here's a 25" and a 24.5" NR mares leg before reddit does reddit things and I get down voted to the bottom https://www.basspro.ca/p/henry-mares-leg-lever-action-rifle-1309231349

You are confusing factory made lengths and aftermarket modifications. They are not the same regulations for lengths. I know, I own both.

There's a ton of dumb rules. You often can't hack a stock off, but you can buy a short one. You can't cut a barrel short, but you can buy a short one. You could likely build an under 26" shotty with parts. I think the Canuck I have is at or under that.

Never assume when it comes to firearms. It is your responsibility to know! You are taught this on day one with “Never assume a firearm is unloaded, know by checking!”

You often can't hack a stock off, but you can buy a short one.

That's basically it.

You also can't cut a barrel shorter than 18"(don't quote me on that exact number, there's a bunch of 18 and change rules) but you can buy an 8" barrel
