Gun and gear reviews Out with the yugo

First time out with m59/66..really liking it so far!

Seems a little more finicky with seating bullets.. had the odd jam.

This is with a hot barrel 300 rnds in..

2 groupings of 20 rnds (norinco 1964)

@120 yards

But it cycles fine!

I think the comments about the steel plate is because people assume its an AR500 steel gong. I got one and a 7,62 rnd doesnt even do anything, it just scratches the paint.

I have a ar500 gong and it does get some minor dents when placed at 100, farther then that it’s fine.

How thick is your gong? I’ve got a 1/4” one and don’t want to damage it with my steel core 7.62x39

I was shooting my caldwell 3/8 66% ipsc plate with a sks at 7 yards this weekend with old spam can ammo and all it did was chip off the powder coat

Careful with that gong. If you hit a round directly in one of those holes then the flak is going back towards you instead of splashing to the sides.

"Seating bullets"? Like you reloaded for it? Or are you talking about chambering a round?

Feeding off stripper clips..when the seat into the magazine. The odd one was to far forward or a little off. The round wound hang up.. Ive seen it with other sks's. Just seems more prevalent on this one. I just pushed the rounds in passed the lips and back towards the bolt.

It’s pretty common because it was designed to be loaded with clips, if you load it too close to the front, only 2 of the 5 rounds will be properly chambered.

I’ve seen this many times.

Its crown land, this gong has been here for years. All sorts of calibres chewing into it

This plate definitely looks like mild steel. I have a couple real ar500 plates for the range and a couple garbage mild steel plates for my buddy's farm. It's fun to shoot armor piercing ammo at the crappy farm targets and try to penetrate through them.
