Feets / Collection / My build Can't decide. LPVO or Reddot and backup irons.
Stuck with this decision. Love iron sights, but also just bought a new 1-4 lpvo which of course needs to be further back so I can't keep the backup irons.
Other options to consider. A quick detach Cantilever might let me keep the irons, and just pop of the scope at the range when I want to shoot irons. Or I have a more notch and post sight I can pop on further down the rail and just remove the scope when I want to shoot irons.
Or just stop obsessing about irons and shoot my gun at 1x if I really want

The LPVO at 4x allows for more precise supported shooting >100 yards. The red dot doesn’t.
In the olden days when we could have weapons of mass destruction I tried both and went with an LPVO that also had an illuminated dot—that was the best of both worlds for me (also, made ~200 yard shots easier in 3 gun).
And before people chime in, yes, I know it is 100% possible to shoot things with a red dot on a rifle at 200 yards. I just like to look close up!

I feel like a red dot on this is just stupid. Lpvo makes way more sense and lose the backup irons

Mount the irons both in front of the scope, the sight radius will be shorter but if there backups you'll still be good

Thanks! I actually did this after, with a set of MP7 knock off irons that can either be notch and post, or peep! Definitely feels like the best of both worlds! Thanks for the advice!!!

that gun is beautiful but what the hell is it wrapped with? copper wire? Fly fishing line? Also my vote goes to the LPVO in this instance.

It's just leather cord! I mostly have old school wood Fudd guns, so adding some leather to this is what made me feel better trying a more modern look

Ya everyone else thinking you're a psycho wrapping copper wire around your gun hahha
I'm thinking about wet moulding a leather grip around one of my guns too

Right?? This was the first time anyone thought it was copper.
With moulding sounds even more comfortable. I know they also sell Leather handguards that look a bit better, or a crafty individual could simply make them!

LPVO with the red dot on top of the LPVO and irons on a 45 offset. Don't forget two foregrips and an IR light.
But seriously, LPVO

My range usually is at a 50m or 100 meter range, but I also have a 200-800 meter if I wanted to try 200

Whatever feels best for you. But if you only have iron sights as backup, unless you have a POS optic, I would drop the iron sights.

The Trail's defining characteristic is its weight. I wanted to build out mine with this same paradigm in mind so I went with a PA Slx 3x microprism.
As far as 7.62x39 goes, I think the accuracy of the cartridge pretty well matches what I can see and shoot with a red dot. The 3x magnification is really just gravy.

if you can afford it: LPVO
if you can't and want to reach out: decent scope
if you can't and want get on target: red dot + magnifier

Nice rifle, x39 or 223?
I'd go for the LPVO. I only really use red dots on shotguns, or on my Homesteader, and even now, I've gone to an LPVO on it.
LPVO is much more versatile for a rifle caliber vs a red dot. For me, it personally drives me nuts not having zoom.

This one is a 7.62 x39!
After all the comments, I'm definitely going LPVO. You are right, it's really nice even having a little zoom. Plus I have my sks thst I can shoot irons with if I really want. Makes sense to have magnification on this one

I have the vortex venom 1-6 on mine and it works great. I would rather have the chance to tighten the accuracy especially with a gun that can move around a bit with the stock.

LPVO: have you had good experiences with a flip-aside mount on a magnifier/red dot setup?
I've always wondered if two flip-aside mounts (working in tandem) would successfully host an LPVO scope and retain zero over time.

Reddot is realistically only good for 100 yards for precision. They're great for PCCs but I prefer an LVPO on a rifle

Depends on your use case, but I'd personally go with the lpvo
